Suburban 1985

I Just rebuilt the carberator to see if could fix the black smoke
Black smoke gotten worse
and to start the truck I have to floor the pedal
It won't run on idle

What did I do wrong?

If carb was original problem, I'd recheck the float setting.

Thank You DirtyDan I fixed the float and is working better
the black smoke is more or less fixed

But.. the choke is now seems to be stuck or I didn't
resemble it right, now what or how do I fix the choke?

What engine, what carb do you have??

Carb is a Rochester QuadJet 4B
Engine is a 305 V8
