Hello,
I was driving down the road this afternoon and my 89 Nissan Maxima just sort of lost all power. It stalled out and as I coasted into a parking lot I tried starting it again and it started for a moment or two but did not really have any power. Now the car will not start at all and just spins over.
I need some suggestions as to where to start. I have checked compression and it seems to be fine so I think the timing belt is ok. But it just turns over and will not do anything else.
Please help with any suggestions.
Thanks much!!!
LARRY

Wow, how much did that cost? I was thinking maybe the MAF sensor, but that sure does make sense!
Thanks for the suggestion!!!!

$129 from nissan.
just think if you had to replace all six................ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
also of note, when the top of the engine is off change the spark plugs (6 platinum plugs = $45 w/tax), plenum gasket and valve cover gasket. you don't want to go in there often, takes about 3 hours to get the top off. i don't think its the maf sensor.... i rode without one on my 240sx for a good two-three months.

One thing that hits you from out of the blue is your crankshaft position sensor. That went out on me within the first 12 hours of owning my 96 max.
Situation was similar too, driving fine until it crapped out, pulled over and waited until it would turn over on me.
