Pills

Why is it that this country has the need for soo many pills?? we are the only country in the world that has a pill for everything. Viagra. you think they ever thought about the wifes when they made that?? you think those 79 year old women like having intercourse at that age??? Pills are just another way for americans to spend more money. more money that could be going elsewhere. its sad that people rely on pills as much as they do. for instance, when you take those tylenol gelcaps, do you honestly believe that they're gonna help you?? all they do is take care of your headache for 4 hours, then it promptly comes back, in which case, you take more of the same. ive never really been a firm believer in shots or pills...im a religious man, so i put my faith in God and leave it at that. like the flu shot...i can go on and on and about how the flu shot is nothing but crap...they inject a little bit of the flu into you so your antibodies and white blood cells get used to having it in your bloodstream, thereby taking care of itself eventually. i havent had a flu shot in 5 years or so and i havent been sick once....(knock on wood). friends and family on the other hand have, and they have gotton sick and cant figure out why. our bodies have had a natuarl healing process all in itself since existance. it knows what to do. it acts accordingly to each fault. anyway, i just wanna know what you guys think....check out this website. its probably one of the best websites ive ever been to.

Pills are good for bacterial infections and stuff, like transplant patients.

The little blue pill...i suppose its for old guys to get it on with girls 1/3 their age...

all pills give drug companies money. they develop life saving drugs. the end.

granted, taking a pill for everything that seems slightly unfavorable is excessive, but then again using yourself as proof of the (in)effectiveness of flu shots isn't the best idea either.


as to the viagra issue... I wonder what you'll say when you need it:confused:

i try and avoid taking pills as much as I can.......flu jab is just not worth it.....last year at work they introduced free flu jabs for anyone who wanted them so I chose to have one:eek: ...boy was that a mistake....I ended up with the worst cold/flu fever as far as I can remember...spent the whole of Xmas and new years in bed...so guess wot :confused: I've decided not to take the jab this year touch wood so far I have been ok

If therewas a God,and Hedid love us,He would'nt let us get sick,and we would'nt need the pills.So,either A/ There is no God, or B/ He doesn't love us.
In either case, why worship him?

I say take as many pills as you want. Big woopy deal. If you dont want them, then dont take the perscription. As for Viagra, its ok to have fertility clinics for women, but heaven forbid there something to help a man along. I'm sure the 79 year old woman doesnt want sex (and who would want to bag her) so I doubt her husband is on the Viagra band wagon. Good to hear you put your faith in god. Hope your faith comes through for you. I however believe god doesnt give a rats ass about anyone down here. So I say pass be a couple Advils to get rid of the headache I get when listening (reading) about people who love to generalize and bash how Americans live.

BTW, 90 year old men are generally given [B]Viagra[t.m.] to stop them from rolling out of bed at night........ everyone gets sick. no matter if God loves us or not, its part of life dude. your taking the "someone owes me something" approach. why is it when bad things happen people blame God, such as yourself. but when something good happens, they dont even think to mention Him?? and why worship Him?? theres a million reasons. first of all, your alive and well. worship Him for that. theres people in this world who eat grass because they dont water or bread to eat. when you go home late at night and you say to yourself.."i think i wanna eat some cheez-its when i get home"...thats a luxury you have man. most people outside of this country cant say that. they go home to dirt and filth. thank Him for that. i can go on for hours about why you should worship Him. so dont say stuff like "there is no God" and "he dosent love us"...i dont know if he loves us but there damn sure is a God.

On the thread: I've got no problem with pills. You've got the choice, use them if you want, don't if you don't. Choices are good, some call it freedom. :)

I do find your approach to science a little mis-informed though. Somehow you think that no 79 year old woman could enjoy sex; that's a pretty sexist and unqualified view. Read the Kinsey report.

Flu shots are not really intended for you - you're young and healthy and should be able to fight off an infection just fine. flu shots are ideal for the elderly, those with weakened immune systems, or those who run into constant exposure (like hospital workers). I don't get one either; but my doctor (M.D.) friends do.

Why are you bitching about tylenol? If they get rid of a headache for 4 hours, then that's still four hours of your life without a headache, regardless if it comes back or not. What's wrong with that?

IMO, that website you post is incredibly full of bull$hit. Please be very careful what you choose to believe from there. :(

Actually, Viagra was originally being researched for a heart medication. But the side effects far outweighed the benefits of what it was made for.


Now, what's the difference in taken any type of medication, over doing drugs. Whether it be pot, alcohol, cigs, crack, or X.

I personally don't like taking pills. I'd rather wait out my headache for as long as possible before going to science.

I do get flu shots, though. I had pneumonia about 6 yrs. ago which I swear weakened my immune system. That, and I have a minimal case of asthma, and my doctor seems to think that the flu shot will keep me from attacks (funny how I'm coughing at this very moment with a sore throat :rolleyes: )

I think it may be part of my generation's mentality (I'm 19) not to run to medicine for everything. I've noticed that my parents will run straight for the Aleve where as my friends and I will typically wait it out in misery before giving in (if at all)... I think that if science can offer pain relief and other sorts of bettering medications, then that's all the better. If we are living longer, then why live them in misery?

Just take my pair of pennies for what they're worth!

I personaly don't have any problem with pills and the abundance of them. The fact of the matter is that because of the way our economy works the leading drug companies, Pfizer, J&J ect., have to come up with new drugs constantly in order to stay above their competition. No one has to take them, they are just out there so if you opt to use them they are there for you. Also like V.S. said, this large assortment of new drugs produce a large amount of revinue to be sunk into things like Cancer research, AIDS research, and other important things. I like our economie's structure, capitalism works, lets keep it going.
As for myself, I haven't taken a pill in so long I can't remember when it was, but who am I to say we shouldn't have all these pills on the market 'cause that would infringe on others right to free will in choosing to take these drugs.

As far as God goes, I donno if I want to launch myself into this arguement or not but I will say that I personaly do not beleave in the presence of an all-seeing, all-knowing, creator of the universe and I'll leave it at that. If any one cares to persue this side of the post I'll be more then glad to elaborate.

wow...i got my ass handed to me on this one huh? :( ah well. again, i was just seeing what people thought. that did not fully represent my feelings. on a lighter note, my car is getting back from its beautiful paint job tomorrow and its 64 degrees right now.....AND, school ended finally this damn semester. so, im happy right now...:) very very happy.
