totally shitty, seing as how im in a plea in abeyance for 3 months and i cant get anything on my record and i got a fuckin IMPROPER LANE CHANGE ticket tonight, what a gay ass ticket, who the fuck signals with no one around :banghead: the pigs in my city have quotas (i know, totally rediculous) so basically if ya get pulled over around the end of the month, your getting a ticket no matter what they will sit and inspect till they find several things, luckily i got a half decent cop.......anyways, anybody ever got one of these? i gotta know how much its gonna cost me.........thanks!

actually around here, they do have a "quota" they jus don't call it that.

im not an ignorant kid who jus thinks this either, jus the son of a 27 year vet to king county p.d.

i do agree that u usually can't blame anyone but urself for a ticket. u said it urself u didn't use ur blinkers, so technically u DID break the law. as soon as they start little things going, then ppl will stretch the law more and more until its rediculous.

the cops around here DO have quota's so STFU unless you know what your talking about man, I do realize it was my fault, only reason i was pissed was because i broke my driving probation for a ticket so stupid.......and if i were 1 mile up the road into the next city i would have been let off, probably not even pulled over........

anyway, back to the original question i asked lol, what kinda ticket is this? I have no clue what to expect fine wise can anybody help me out?

I do know what I am talking, considering I am in law enforcement and deal with cops on a daily basis. So then maybe around here cops don't have quotas, I know they didn't have any where I was stationed when I was in the military, and since my sis is a cop, I know they dont any back home in Cincy, where I am from. Maybe in your neck of the woods they do, who knows.

and to your original question. It depends if yout state or municipality has a set fine amount. Some area's the fine is set based upon the driving record of the individual, the conditions of the road, was there any danger to other drivers. Its a basic misdemeanor ticket. I would gander the fine would be probably no more than 50-75 max. at least thats based on the standards here in kansas. You failed to mention if it was a county charge, or city. unless you have a one charge system. the quotes I gave are based upon city, which is what I deal with the most on a daily basis.

and to my previous comment, no offense intended. I just hate hearing people bash cops when they do their job.

Let me clear some stuff up.

Every department has a "quota" of a such. It's like this, at the end of their shift an officer has to turn in at least a certain amount of paperwork to satisfy that they haven't been sitting on their ass the whole time. Paperwork can either be for actual tickets, or just mere warnings. Eitherway it's about the same paperwork for each to my understanding. It's all up to YOU the driver to determine if you get a warning or a ticket with your attitude, mood you catch the officer in and above all, the violation you just commited. Happy motoring. ;)

Just follow the law and you won't get caught. Pretty damn simple solution I think. I ALWAYS use my blinker just for that reason, even in the middle of night you never know who might see or not see it. Better safe than sorry and a point on your record, right?

Fight it, if there was no one around at all and depending how late at night it was you have a good chance. But it also depends on what you did exactly. was it a normal lane change or a supa-stunna down shift, swerve the opposite way and then swing into the other lane?

you broke a law by not using your blinker and it sounds like you must have been an asshole with the cop. so its your fault. thats why you got a ticket. i've gotten pulled over twice, once on the interstate doing 90 and the cop let me off with a written warning, and the second time i came out of a stop sign in the middle of nowere at 1 in the morning (I HAD MY INTEGRA TWO DAYS! AHHH) and a cop was about a half mile down the road coming my way, he clocked me at 68 in a 55 about 50 yards out of the stop sign he said, first thing he said when he came up told me his reason for pulling me over and asked why i was speeding, i just replyed "no reason i was just coming off the line fast" he's like "yah you were", went back to his car and came back and said "well i'm gonna save you a $144 dollar ticket for speeding because you were honest with me, nice car by the way, i see you just got it, and i realise you were probably just trying it out alittle bit, please keep in within the speed limit from now on though. have a good night and a safe trip sir" ... you know why? because both times i was nice, polite, stayed calm, and didn't get pissed with the cop. I hope that if i ever get pulled over again i got so many mods done to the car i can hop out and pop the hood and get the cop interested in my car and maybe get him forget about the ticket... doubt that would happen but hey it could happen. lol

Guess it depends on the cops themselves.. Ive been pulled over many times and I know the only way your going to get a chance is if you do like JakeDRUMMER said. but I find the younger ones will give you a break, they can relate..the older ones think your just some punk and the women officers just like to be biatches.

I know for a fact that we have quota's in this town. How you ask? First, my mom's cousin is the County Judge Executive. I don't know about where you are, but here it's the step right before the Mayor. Second, a major scandal broke out here when someone leaked information about the PD's practices. It was gettin' crazy, because the police were doing this in order to show that they needed to hire more officers, and get more funding. When this came out, there was MAJOR pressure on the mayor to stop it, and he did to some extent, but there's still some weird shit going on. Then you have the typical corruption. The Mayor's son was recently in a pretty major traffic accident (his fault) and they discovered some weed and papers in his car. Lo and behold, that report disapperead, and the people he hit were paid off out the back door. Didn't even go to insurance.

Also, another thing about cops around here that literally pisses the whole town off is because of these (somewhat better) "quotas", all cops do is hide in alleys or driveways or behind shrubs "sniping" people for speeding. They know this is how to get quotas. They won't have as much paperwork (and therefor, as much "prestige" or, in the end, salary increases). That's another thing the Mayor said though, is that all police HAVE to be visible when they're setting up speed traps. I dunno. I'm getting to where I'm all for anarchy. :newburn:

ok, its time for me to butt in. While i agree completely with SilverY2kcivic and KrNxRaCer00 about cops not having an actual "quota", they do have to show that they are doing something productive. I work with cops every day, and the term "quota" couldn't be farther from the truth. Think of it this way, when you get a ticket and you pay it, your money is just going back into funding the city or community. Now granted, i know the numbers, the city doesn't profit much from tickets, it does keep the streets safe. I'm joining the police academy in about a year or so and from what i've learned, police officers are completely different out of uniform. It's not like once they meet their quote they can stop working for the rest of them month, no no no, but they do have to get people for the small stuff so it doesn't get out of hand. Simple, you broke the law and got caught, tell me why you shouldn't have gotten a ticket?! Now that doesn't make me perfect, i've been pulled over 5 times now. 1st-headlights weren't on 2nd. altezza days, 'nuff said 3rd time. Got caught going 70 in a 45 4th time - was chasing a cop on the I-10 and another got behind me 5th - took a 15mph turn at 35-40 and the one car down the block happened to be a cop, i tried losing him in residential streets and sucessfully did so until i was stepping onto my porch. Needless to say, i've gotten out of all of them. Admission. Have a good attitude and they'll let you off. Now my girlfriend who got caught going 55-60 downhill in a 45 zone had a bad attitude and was like "he was out to get me", well yes he was, but if you said you lost track of your speed or at least admitted it, she would've been off gauranteed. You know how i know this? because that 70 in a 45 zone i got caught in was the same exact hill. I even told her about it as we approached the hill. And the story gets even better. Afterwards, i was like, "hey he looked familiar." So for a day i thought that was a cop i dealt with here at work, then it hit me, that was the same one who got me. I don't normally look cops in the eye, much get their name, but it was the same guy. To prove my theory, a local radio station (KBIG i think) had people call in and tell their stories of how they got out of tickets. People can be creative, but the most common, was admission. Cops called in to say yes, that's the best way to get out of the ticket. Now me personally, as much as i've learned to not be afraid of cops here at work, whenever one pulls me over i turn white and i think last time my hand was shaking when i handed him my license/registration/insurance. They're not out to get specific tickets, they're out there to keep it safe. If people don't signal, there's potential for an accident.
People laugh at me when i'm cruising down the freeway with no traffic anywhere at night and i signal from the second lane to the third lane. Now while i admit it might look funny, and it is, the one cop hiding in the dark doesn't want to be seeing a car hovering over lanes of freeway without speeding.
Southern California is notorious for bad traffic, speeding, crappy roads, idiots, corrupted cops, and all that, and i'm guessing other places are too. That's why cops have to get everybody for everything, so it doesn't get out of hand and get like southern california.
Ok, you go 1 mph over the speed limit, its excusable. But anything over 5 you deserve it. I deserve to get tickets, but i don't cause i know where cops are and when they are out there. I won't be pissed off when i get a ticket, as long as its something i know i did wrong. To quote matt,
HAPPY MOTORING! :smokin:

Wow David. Couldn't have said it better myself man. I go to the local PD in my city everyday during the week and the cops are pretty decent people, even IN uniform, but off their beat. Though the only cop from that that I've ever been pulled over by from that PD seems to have a chip on his shoulder both in and out of his car. That's just one cop out of 238 in my city. He's notorious for being not so nice, and even harassing people.

Anyways, I myself have been pulled over 4 times, gotten 2 tickets out of those 4 times, and the cop from my city that pulled me didn;t even show up to court when I went to fight it. Sometimes a cop might give you the ticket anyways to teach you a lesson. My first ticket was by a CHP officer for doing 82 on the freeway. I KNEW I was nailing past anyone, so there was no need to lie about it. He was very polite, and I was equally as courtious to him. I told him I knew I was going faster than the flow, but never looked down to see exactly how fast, I was just traying to make some time between rush hour traffic sections. He even knew and asked if it was my 1st ticket, I told him yes, but he broke me off a paper that cost me almost $200 and 8 hours of traffic school later when all said and done. He got me because I was doing what I WASN'T supposed to be doing. One of the other stops (that I didn't get a ticket for) was a stupid stop. A female CHP officer pulled me while I was cruising with about 8 other Import buddies and I peeled off to go home because it was late, and I was only rolling with them till the street I take to mine came up. She tried to profile me as a "street racer" but when I played her for dumb on her false assumption, she was frustrated there wasn't anything she could site me for, and let me go on so she could catch up and follow the rest of my friends in that pack. The other time I was pulled I was driving down the main drag in this very small posh city next to mine (Sierra Madre is the city) and got pulled basically because I was the only car on the road, and the cop needed someone toi harrass or look busy with. He tried to accuse me weaving on the road and being drunk. Once he realized I had no alcohol in me nor could smell any on my breath, and that in reality I was just very tired, he let me go feeling like an idiot for pulling me over for something I really wasn't even doing. Just keep it legal, watch where you drive at given times, and you should be fine. If all fails and you get pulled, a good attitude will get you more respect from them than you think.

11 pts. here. I think it's bullshit that they can ticket you for not wearing a seatbelt. The child safety thing, yeah, but your own PERSONAL self. This is NOT going to save anyone else's life but your own, so I say keep your grimy gov't hands off my seatbelt. Hell, I'm crazy anyways. I think it's stupid TO wear a seatbelt. I'd rather be thrown than have the seatbelt jam with me inside a metal and fiberglass vehicle which just HAPPENS to have 18 gallons of fuel strapped underneath. I think that if you're in a wreck bad enough to throw you, that tank has a good a chance of blowing up right than any other time. Whaddya think?

i think that's the stupidest way of thinking i've ever heard. first off, windsheilds have a shatter resistant layer so for you to go threw it, you'd have to be going really really fast. second, there is very little chance that the car will blow up on you in a crash. just not likely at all. even if the crash is that bad, it's not likely. you've probably just been watching too many movies. seatbelts save lives so if you have a death wish, then by all means, don't wear it. even in little accidents, a seat belt will save you from concusions and more serious injurys. so next time you don't want to wear a seat belt, don't be so immature and grow up.

We don't drive old Bugs, or 80's generation Chevy Pickups. Unless you wrap a pole and roll over several times flipping, you car shouldn't catch fire and blow up.

There are crunch zones in the trunk which absorb all the shock... All that holds your gas tank onto our Civics is two straps and the hoses to the feed lines, so if you're in a wreck that bad the worst that will happen is the tank will fall off. The chances of one exploding are next to nil. Oh, next chance you get, go punch your windshield as hard as you can and I gauruntee you'll break your hand before even cracking it. Now imagine your skull hitting it hard enough to shatter when you "safely fly out the car" man. Even the side windows on cars are strong as hell... We left the keys in my friends 240sx while stuck in Mexico of all places and he told me to break the shit open. I kicked and elbowed the window as hard as I possibly could and it did nothing at all except leave dirty boot marks, and I'm a pretty strong guy. I'm guessing you're 16-17 because of your careless, beyond-stupid outlook on safety.
