Exhaust flame

Man the flame that comes out of the V8 supercars is cool and i wass woundering how it works, and how i could get my car to do that.

That comes out of the exhaust that is.

you can buy a kit i forgot what it was called though and theres another way with spark plugs.

seems kinda silly to me, the shit comming out of drag cars and funny cars, and all the rest is just unburned Nitro Methane which ignites in the hot exhaust and produces flames. I suppose the one reason to do it with a streetable car is if some fucker in an SUV is riding your ass, just hit the switch and light em up... or if your auditioning for the Fastest and Furiest (sequal? heh). anywhoo, you can just run really rich and install a sparkplug in the exhaust. If you do it that way, say bye bye to your O2 sensor cause it aint gonna do a damn thing. or ive even seen people who install another fuel injector in the exhaust with a sparkplug.

if you do end up doin it, let us know how many soccer moms you light on fire.

yeah dude my cousin has it on is 69 SS camaro, every time somebody tailgates him he just hits the flames and they back waaay off. its a pretty funny sight. if you do get it done, watch peoples faces when you do it to them :devil:

Ok, I am really considering this. I warn you, be ready for a lot of people to scream rice. I was thinking about this and then 2F2F came out and now it's rice. I still think it'd be cool though so whatever.

It's not as easy as just driving along, hitting a button and getting flames. And getting your to to run rich to get it would just be stupid and harmful. They make kits exactly for this. You just install another spark plug and coil at the end of the exhaust and a few electronics in teh engine bay and you're ready. You engage it, rev the engine up and you get flames. My cousin had it on his Honda (yes, he's a ricer, I'll admit...... :screwy: ). And I'm thinking if you light up someone's front bumper, it'd be funny until you get hit with a lawsuit. Still cool though :iceslolan .

^ there ya go! im2fast4u said it! hellz yeh its badass, and im gonna do it to my car, but if u for reals light up someones front end... their inevitable staring at ur rear end... which carries ur plate... and its safe to say they'll be royally hacked! and more than likely their gonna get ur plate, and get u in some deep doo-doo! and yes ppl do, do that kinda shit! my bro past someone (who happened to know a cop pretty well) doin about 110 mph and they actually got the cop to stalk him the next morning and pull him over for some stupid shit, but ticketed him for it, cuz of the story he heard, and gave him a stern warning! and i swear the next week he was watching that stretch like a hawk! so yeh... its cool to use for bark, but u bite someone with it.... well my advice would be dont ! so yeh get one, their freakin tight , just dont do stupid shit with it!!! man, freakin dual BOV's to make a scene and then freakin flames out the back... thats gonna be me man!! chicks will flock ... hell chicks dig these cars as it is! but still! it's gonna be PIMP!! - which brings me to another question. how many of yall have ur BOV's run to where they shoot the steam out just under the hood , and how many of yall have it shoot out? from like the front wheel wells or what not?? just outa curiosity

Would the air from the BOV's really be steam? I thought it would just be compressed air at about 15-20 psi... I dont see how the sudden decompression would be enough to cause water crystalization, or for the compression to be high enough to make the air hot enough to cause water vaporization. But then again, I dont know much, just wondering... Cause that would be cool as hell!

oh and what size flame were you talking about? cause i was talking about a small maybe 1 footer, that wouldnt do anything to someone behind you, maybe just let them know to back off a bit. More like the ones seen on real drag racing cars. But if youre talking about those massive 50'+ flame throwers, then yeah, youll need a kit for that! If you have one laying around, check out pg 46 of oct. 2002 Hot Rod Magazine. Its got a great picture taken durring Power Tour of a couple cars throwing flames that combine into a massive 50+ foot fireball! Its freaking nutty... I would post the pic, but my scanner is dead.

Atleast they got one thing right though, A Yenko Super Camaro would woop the crap out of the cars they had on there in an all out drag. However, I dont think ANY of the few owners of them would EVER race for slips, theyre just too damn valuable.

yeah your right helldamnfart, it wouldnt creat steam. the air prolly wouldnt even be that hot since it goes through the intakes, but i dunno. im pretty sure it would just be compressed air. steam would hurt if you touched it. and yeah your also prolly right about the slips...thats why they call it a movie :)

You're going to need a kit for any sized flame. Seriosuly, just running ritch or something would be stupid. And, yes I was referring to a roughly 1-2 foot flame.
