I finally ordered a b16 to replace my blown zc today. I got it from honda motors online. I cannot wait to get it. I am going to finish pulling the zc this weekend. I am wondering if I should replace the water pump on the b16 before I put it in, and if so home much do they cost?:D

Dunno about the water pump, but if it's an import engine then it has probably been sitting in a yard and in transit with little fluid in it. It couldn't hurt, as it's a tight fit in the engine bay and it would be one less thing to worry about. Definitely change the timing belt when the engine is out. It's like taking out insurance on your motor :) While you're at it, might as well do the other belts and check for lower seal leaks.
The B16A is so tight in the bay - you should have heard my mechanic swearing in japanese as he tried to fit the LH SiR engine mount - and he has worked on Hondas for over 20 years :p

Hi 91b16sedan....
Welcome to this message board. I think you will find the peeps and info most here helpful. This is a cool group.
I would definitely recommend replacement of the timing belt and water pump as Setanta recommends. You never know how long a 4th gen motor has been sitting before you receive it. Anything external that might rot that you can replace, I would (plug wires, etc...) I wish I had more technnical knowledge for you related to the parts you need for your b16a. Perhaps someone else will add some more for you. Congrats...nice swap choice :) Wish I had the cash and time for a b16..or I wouldn't be going ZC...but that will be plenty for me :D

I am going to put on an act clutch. I was planning to just get the flywheel cleaned up. If I do go for a aftermarket flywheel which one should I get?

I'm getting a B16 as well in the next month...depending on when they get an LSD tranny in....here is what I'm doing. and only the best! :)
1. water pump and timing belt
2. NGK-R plugs, Magnecor wires, Honda distr. cap and rotor.
3. New clutch, most likely Clutch Masters as I can get dealer on them...however I can get dealer on ACT...we'll see.
4. Billet flywheel. either CM, as I've used the before and love them, or ZEX as I am now a ZEX dealer and I was told the are IDENTICAL to JUN :)
5. remove, paint or polish EVERY bit of aluminum and part on the motor! it's going to look like brand new when I'm done :)
6. Type R valve cover ;)
7. TODA cam set or JUN...hmmmmmm :)
8. Edelbrock overbore TB and intake setup.
hmm....think that's about it :)
