New LS owner...

I've been researching what ride to buy for a couple of months now. I'm probably one of those newbies everyone loves to hate. Which this is better, which that is better, etc.

It's finally over! I just purchased a 2001 Integra LS. I followed my wife home from the dealership and the only thing I wanted to do the whole ride home was stomp on it and zoom by. Unfortunately she would have been kinda pissed so I must wait until tomorrow to really give it a good drive.

I am so excited about this car! I don't know when I will have any extra cash, but when I do what is a good first upgrade? I was thinking maybe a new intake?

Anyways, now I am one of you. Finally I can chat in a forum where I actually own the car (wish it was the skline forum). lol

you can drive fast but dont drive dumb, no offense, ya know what I mean though. Some people drive crazy out there. Anyways, intake or maybe an exhaust. Then you can get the header system too, and then drop it.... yeaaaah.... :grinyes:

i would lower it or put an exhaust

If you go exhaust first, you'll probably loose hp and especially torque. Intake, then exhaust / headers.

BTW: If anyone has any experience with tuning BMW's, could you PM me. The people in the Bemmer forum are dumb.

I agree an intake would be a great first upgrade. Then exhaust then header then lower it. What are your plans for the car? Are you planning on tring a N/A setup or turbo or nitrous etc.

Oh and welcome to the integra forum :p

when modding a car there are certain steps you must take:
Increased air flow- cold air intake, intake maniflod, breather filter
Increased exaust flow- headder, exaust, high flow cat
Increased ignition- better plugs, thicker wires, Ignition system, rev limiter,
Increased fuel flow, Fuel Pump, Injectors, Fuel rail,

Or rebuild the engine
Or just get a turbo kit and exaust and blow them all away

Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go.

by the way if you do all this, you will need to beef up the suspension and breaks
Big break and rotor kit, Low profile tires and rims, sway bars, coilovers, camber kit, front and rear strut bars.

I think you guys are right on with the intake first. From your experience do you think AEM, DC, K&N, or another.

I'm not sure if I will remain NA or not. Can this motor handle boost without wearing to quickly? Do I need to upgrade some internals before I consider that?

Thanks for all your input. I love this car! Now I know what all the Honda/Acura hype is all about.

Later.

yeup, the ls (b18b1) motor is a great motor to turbo. it can handle up to 12 psi on stock internals (would have to tune it a bit is all).

as for intake...plz do a search. this has been argued MANY times over, with no real resolve. its all personal preference. i would say a generic no-name w/ k&n filter is great. others will say big-names, big-prices, u get wut u pay for. really...its up in the air, but if u do a search of the boards, u can read the arguements and come to ur own conclusions.

" think you guys are right on with the intake "

i've heard that people have problems installing a cold air intake in the integra bay, because it's a tight fit. what are these sort of problems? how can they be avoided?

I also worry about water leaking in. if i get a cold air, what's the best way to avoid this problem?

Mmmm Welcome to the forum...
To answer your question you should use th search function as I know this questions has been asked and answered before. Also this post is pretty old and it is a general rule that you not post in threads of this age to keep them out of the top.

After that little tirade, I have an AEM V2 installed on my integra and it was a pain in the ass. (mainly because it came with the wrong bolt) But it does come with good instructions and all the necessary hardware to do the job. Oh and it sounds great too.
