ive heard the ZC is a JDM motor, any reasonable sources for this motor or should I stick with SOHC and get the Z6? whats the ZC weigh compared to the Z6 and what are the trade offs in terms of pwer and handling?

I can get the ZC for a pretty good price, but I'll have to get an exact, shipped quote. The ZC weighs almost exactly what the Z6 does, maybe 10 lbs lighter, but not much. I have one of each, and they are very comparable in power, but I'd have to say that the main difference is where they produce power. The ZC really produces it's best power in the far upper range of RPM's. I like my ZC mainly because of how it looks in the Engine bay! DOHC looks awesome! There is also a JDM version of the Z6 that they call the ZCVTEC, and there's also the JDM D15B VTEC, both of which produce 130 HP. The D15B VTEC makes 130 HP, and is much cheaper, it's becoming a good alternative for the money... I can get you one for dirt cheap compared to other motors...

i dont see why people still go zc unless your doing a complete rebuild and even then if its a stock rebuild they arent that fast.....they are just getting too old!

go z6, more aftermarket available, and better, imo than vtec d15b. i wouldnt worry about weight with any d series engine. :bigthumb:

well seeing as how the D15b is the z6 with a 1.5 bottom end the aftermarket is the same, since they are esentially the same motor. Plus the Z6 has 125hp at the crank and the D15b has 128hp at the crank. But I agree with the D series weights.

Let's say that I swap a D15 in my CRX. What do you look for if you want aftermarket parts for a D15? Do you just aftermarket parts that fits any 91-95 Civic?

Your regular aftermarket parts, intake, header, exhaust etc. Do you look for those parts that fit a 92 - 95 Civic? I'm assuming that a D15 came from a 92-95 Civic, right?

the d15 has a higher compression and .1 liter less and less torque. if you raise the compression on the d16z6 then it would be better. i dont think that having less displacement is an advantage.

and i meant more aftermarket than the zc.

Okay the ZC is understandable. As i said before the D15b has the Z6 head so all that was mentioned would be looked for as the 92-95 Si head parts. Anything bottom end would be the Civic Vx because it is the 1.5 with Vtec-e. The D15b is from the 92-95 Civic VTi in Japan.

imo: zc is good but easiest to buy parts for and do stuff to for the same performance is the z6 go w/ that if you want ease dude,
