I don't really care, it looks just like a G35.

Eugene, in japan that's the R35 skyline.

Yeah, I know that. I just wish that they would have kept the R34 design. That and the R33 were the best ever.

Yeah, I agree, but the Veilside body kit available for the G35 looks fine.

OOOOOK :screwy:
It is basically a G35. For those who pre-ordered and those who look forward to this kit it's informative. I'm sorry you don't appreciate Nismo Skyline's.
It's not an R35 it's a V35 (also the Nissan chassis code). R (more specifically RB) refers to an inline motor. V stands for V-configured engine. Since the talks of a GT-R concept calls for a V-configured motor it would be a V35 GT-R.

Ohhhh, ok, but it's basically the next step after the R34, right? I'm definetly gona order this, any idea if SAS will be replicating a Veilside bdoy kit for this?

Yeah...it's the next Skyline. The name is the only thing that is the same obviously. But remember Skyline comes in all different kinds of levels. For example your signature. Nomura's R34 4-door 2.5T down to the non-turbo Skyline's. We'll have to wait for the GT-R somewhere around 2007, so Nissan forecasts. I wouldn't hold my breath on that.....
As for the SAS Veilside kit. Don't know. Gonna have to ask him.

I used to love Skylines, untill they made it just like the G35. I think that's just gay that they did that. I love the R34, and the R33, like I said before. Those are awesome.

Yeah, maybe 2010 if we're lucky, we'll see a GTR.

I posted a link the other day. didn't you guys check it out?

change is good fella's. you will always have the R34, its here forever, no one can take it away (unless you live in the US lol)
I'd rather have the new skyline then no skyline at all. You should be appreciative that the whole line didn't go the way of the Silvia you also love. where's the S16? nope.
They may have discontinued that kit due to the fact that the car was only a concept, not an actual production class vehicle. Nissan should come with a GT-R sooner then 2007 but don't hold me to that.

Yeah, I read it, just didn't pay attention to it. Can't wait for that kit, I also pre-ordered one using a freinds VISA card. Blue, I'm in the U.S., but I have a freind that owns a converted-to Single Turbo R33 GTR, it's quite fast and nice. But it's his, and I only get to drive it when he comes down for the holidays, and then there's so many cops out, you can't open it up.

I hope your not complaining :sly:
;) lucky bastard.
my dad has a 2002 Vette. I get to blow off some pent up skyline emotions in her. She'd eat a stock GTR too. but I DO envy you driving a BST R33.

It's only once a year, and no, I'm not complaining, in fact he's coming for a christmas party this month. And he said he's added some surprises to the car that he want's me to see. Honestly, I hate/envy him for it. Hate because the bastard is too damn rich! Envy, because I wish the car were mine. So far the cars had 3 color changes and he does the paint himself, he does the work himself. Knowing him he probably re-painted it bright green or something.

It's the other way around. Infinity renamed the Skyline as G35, not Nissan making the Skyline out of Infinity. Both are essencially the same car.
And whenever I spot the G35 here in Houston, I always call it Skyline, not G35. Haven't seen any with Skyline badge conversion, but it's just a matter of time, I think.
Also, I believe the FM platform based v35 handles much better then cedric/gloria derived R34, or so the technical director and former Nismo motorsports director Mizuno-san says.

I know a vietnamese dude, tua, he's buying a G35, "supposingly" adding twin turbos, R34 rims, rebadging as skyline and GTS-TT, but the guy has alot of shit with him, but hey, who doesn't?

Well, the past few years he's had a 94 4dr maxima, I'm gona drop and SR20-did it. Gona turbocharge it-did it, gona put custom exhaust-did it, gonna drop the 5spd for a 6-did it, getting nismo style rims-did it, gona lower the car 2''-did it, gona add me a 10k stereo-did it, gonna paint the car bayside blue-did it, gonna put cf hood-did it, gona put in a short shifter-did it. So all the mods he said he'd do to the maxima, he did, but he ripped the stereo out, re-painted jet black, changed back to stock rims. So, he did it, just didn't keep it that way for a while.

A 94 Max with an SR20, aftermarket turbo kit and 6spd tranny? Unless you have some pics of this Max it's too unbelievable. Surely if this car does exist he has tons of pictures. Heck, a Max with a SR20, turbo and 6-spd would definitely have made it into a magazine.

ok, so Nissan rebadged the Skyline and gave it to Infinty as the G35?
would both the G35 sedan and coupe be considered the Skyline? and where does that put the Z? I always considered the G35 coupe the latest version of the Z's 2+2 body style, not an entirely different model. It just seems strange that Nissan would market 2 nearly identical performance cars along side each other. I'm so bloody confused. :banghead:

i do believe the current v35 generation skyline/g35 coupe (whatever you wanna call it) came out as a infinit concept vehicle first dubbed as the cvl or somehting like that. although the z and g35 coupe are remarkably similar, i feel that the target audience for the g35 is quite different for the z. the z is more of a track car while the g35 is more of a gt machine also

Yes....the Coupe and Sedan are considered a Skyline. Not an extension of the Z. Though the Fairlady Z and the V35 Skyline are similar they are 2 different models.
If you think about it it makes perfect sense. You maintain the Z legacy, carry on the Skyline name, make minor changes in the 2 chassis' but keep the engine's nearly identical. You don't need to make the VG30DETT and the RB26DETT only the VQ35DE. Heck, Nissan is making a killing putting the VQ35DE into the Infiniti G35's, Infiniti I35, 350Z, Maxima and Altima. They tune all models a little differentally to justify buying a certain model and viola.
I do agree with the previous post. The target audience for the Z and the G35 are different. I have to admit Nissan pulled it off remarkably.

Don't forget that a modified version of the FM platform lives under the FX sport-ute. So, what we can gather from that, is that the Q series 4.5L V8 also fits easily into that chassis.
Ahem, twin-turbo V8 GTR in the future mayhaps?
Folks, lets face it, there was bitching and moaning when the R went away the first time and the S20 engine disappeared. Then there was bitching when Skylines were given turbo 4's. Even the awd RB26DETT Skyline GTR's were met with apprehension when they first showed up because they were tech-laden super-coupes rather than the stripped-down racers that first wore the badge.
There's no sacrilege to a new idea, especially when it's an idea we know can work. If Nissan doesn't have to manufacture several platforms and a bunch of different engines, they can bring costs down and can concentrate on dragging more performance out of the existing engines and chassis.
