1967 Chev Corvette Prostreet project progress.

Well the Firebird is drying, I need to leave it for a week. So I decided to start something else that I got yesterday, a 1967 Corvette 427. So far here are the plans for it, I was originally going to do it completely stock, but horsepower tempted me to take it further :naughty:

Agent Orange Prostreet Corvette plans so far:
Gloss orange engine block, body and undercarriage
Gloss black suspension, frame, drivetrain and exhaust
Blown 427 Chevy big block, twin carburettors, bug catcher scoop
Nitrous injection, twin tank system
Mixture of blacks for the interior
Undecided on wheels
Twin wheelie bars
Shortened rear axles
No fenders in the engine bay

Here's some photos of the engine.

Seeming as I have no good sets of wheels for it, I post this:

WANTED!: Convo Pro Style wheels, 1/25th scale, with tires. Possibly from a funnycar kit :screwy:

I need some wheels that would look good on this, and I have always liked Convo Pros. If anyone has some I'm willing to buy them from you, because I really need them.

Updates as progress happens. Thanks for looking

This is probably one of the best kits out there for you to swipe parts from for this sort of buildup. Model Express has one here (http://www.modelexpress.net/cgi-bin/modelexpress/shop/REV_7157.html) if you're interested.

I got that in a 3pack kit. Has no slicks though, just firestone ET drag tires, quite wide. Looks good, I see your getting into this muscle/drag car theme.

Yeah sort of getting into it, I always have appreciated musclecars ;) I've known quite a few people with absoloutely crazy musclecars that they have owned and sometimes as a daily driver.
I started the itnerior last night, I'll get some photos of that when it is near to done.

cool, hey you know if there's an 86-87 cutlass 2dr supreme, don't matter if it's a lowrider, I'd like to build my cutlass, it can be seen here (http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/255526)

I'd been thinking of doing a kit along these lines, but somewhat "tamer", but nowhere near stock. Keep us posted :grinyes:

Nah, no Cutlass Supremes being built to my knowledge, that question was asked on LiL forums not too long ago, I think there is a year around there that is made in resin, but it is not a supreme.
I feel like this is a lacking thread, so I got some pictures of the interior and suspension parts so far, not much but it is progress. I painted te carbs and the scoop on the engine too, shit, I forgot it needs a fanbelt. Anyone know how to scratchbuild a blower fanbelt?

For the fanbelt, you can use casette wire.
Or, I found some plastic rounded wire for closing bags. It came good.

Well, that's cool, but I've had bad experience with resin bodies, *cracked a few in half trying to get them on the frame*. Thanks for checking for the cutlass. For the fanbelt, I usually use rubberbands, cut to width, or cassete tape sucha s Jurva said.

Nice interior and engin work, What different paints did you use for the interior? looks a lot less bland than many efforts.

I've had very good experiences making fanbelts from masking tape. The paper 3M painter's type of masking tape, not the plastic Tamiya or 3M magic tape. The paper gives it a good texture after you paint it in flat black (I use Testor's flat black with just a touch of Testor's rust, it looks very well but takes a couple coats since the paper absorbs it.) Just cut it into thin strips, paint, and put it on. I like to paint a much greater lenght than I need, and wrap it around all the pulleys 2-3 times to give it a realistic thickness.

Man, that's a lot of talk for a very simple tip. Eh...

Thanks, I'll give all of those tactics a go. Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been unable to get access to the computer, here is a few pictures of the interior with the silver trim done, it looks a bit better in person but I'm still doing the interior, I've scratchbuilt some temp and oil gauges and put them in the passenger footwell under the glovebox.
Until next time I get on the internet... I've also started my T bucket hotrod, so I now have 3 cars in progress, but I need to fix the firebird, so it's more like 2.

Nice interior detail, The dashboard looks very real. Are you going to use transfers for the other gauges as well?

12-04-2003, 12:35 AM
Wow they both are looking good!

O hey ! hey! I have those wheels on the T bucket!!! They are from a Revell Chey Bel Air kit right? Keep up the good work! O yeah you can see the back wheels that you are using on my Hot Pink Mopar, (I think you replied to that thread already). Heres a tip for the tires to make them look driven. Put the wheels on a nail or styrene sprue and mount it on a drill, spin them on a piece of like 250 or 300 grit sandpaper, just enough to wear a little at them, it looks like they've been used. Hope this helps!

anywho, Great work!

Purpura Delujo
12-04-2003, 10:26 PM
Thanks for that, I know they look really bad out of the kit, they also look like if they were real, they have been massively overflated.
I'm going to fine detail the main gauges to match the smaller ones, the smaller ones need a bit of black painted on the front as there is a pretty big amount of white outside the actual gauge.
It's too wet and misty today to take photos, so I will see what it is like tomorrow and get some of the hopefully completed T bucket frame.

Wow, the interior is awesome! But you should fill in the black on the steering wheel.

Don't worry Malcolm, I'm going to further detail the interior tonight, aswell as touch it up, I took that photo with the macro on but I must of bumped the zoom, because it lost focus on the steering wheel. I'll get a better picture next time too!

I opened the bonnet up, the carb/filter setup is from a `57 Vette kit, I'm letting my dad build that because he loves Cobras and Corvettes, and he didn't want to do anything crazy to it, so I used the Dominator and air filter from it aswell as the rocker covers. Colour will be Italian red now, wheels are off the Superbee, I decided to beef the Superbee up a little by adding more musclecar things to it.
Still trying to decide wether or not to add twin nitrous tanks behind the seats.

86_SR5

So, your still going pro street direction, right? Suggestion, Take off the filter, and leave it off. Maybe drill holes for the jets. Most pro-stock cars, even my cutlass runs without a filter. It has a 454ls6 victor jr. (christmas present, on its way) and a holley 950 4bbl, no filter. Since the motor is only run for a short time, there's no need for one.

Purpura Delujo
12-19-2003, 09:27 PM
Yeah but it sort of looks more driveable now, no huge tower or power casting a shadow over the roofline, no big meats out back.
With slicks and littles on the front I can't get it to sit right because the damn sump comes under the chassis too much.

86_SR5
12-19-2003, 09:30 PM
well that's cool. I've never seen old school pro-tourer vette's before, which is kinda what it looks like now.

Given two facts, that 1) I'm lazy and 2) I was bored.
I put nearly every single stock item back onto the Vette. Looks like it will just be a cleaner stock version.

Still got the engine in it, dominator carb and those rocker covers will be staying, maybe... Depends how bored I get...

I'm going to make a prostreet car soon, don't worry. We don't see enough pro street muscle action on here.

I've got loads of them parts, and about 15 sbc's with headers, superchargers, Tunnel rams, open carbs etc. in my collection. All of them painted in flourescent orange. I usually do the engine bay in alumi-chrome brush, when dried the orange shines off it so well you can't miss the center piece.

purp, you finished this?

Purpura Delujo
02-07-2004, 02:01 AM
Heheh nah man I passed it onto a friend to build a L88 version of it.
The parts were going to go in the Superbee, but the front frame snapped, so I have to scratchbuild a new one. So all the things will go on the Superbird now.

Will post flickas when I get it all together.

Peace
