Funny that my progress thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=134000) should get topped today, since I took advantage of some free time after eating a turkey to get this thing done. I'm quite proud of this, since it's the first time I've undertaken such an ambitious project, doing some body work and grafting in an engine. I couldn't wait to finish this, since it's pretty much my ideal car, so taking my time was difficult. But I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Thank you all for the kind words. I really appreciate it. This model makes me want a better camera so I can take better pictures. The motor looks better in person, but the paint looks worse. I was planning on taking a couple pictures outside in bright, diffused light but the Tigers had to clinch the SEC west title and I didn't get a chance. Maybe Sunday if there is any interest.

Kasso- the engine was so incredibly worth it! It was just magnificent, and if you check my progress, you can see how easily it went in, with very minor modification to what I expected. The engine was a model within itself. Just marvelous. But I agree the price is rather steep, especially since it is almost entirely hidden. I don't think I'd spend so much on a part like that unless it was for an S2000, I adore that car.

Thanks again! Your collective sentiments make me want to get started on another car right away. Too bad the semester is almost up, I guess the next project will have to wait.

Magnificent effort Willimo.

My only complaint ..., I want to see more of that engine bay!

Pleaseeeee!!!!! Take some close ups on that beautiful motor you made!!!

I can see it's worthy of some more pics, please!!!

I take my hat off :worshippy on all the time and work you spent making all the modifications, from body parts to adapting the motor so well. It's such a candy to the eye!

Congratulations on the first motored (sakatsu) s2000 here... (the one who hits first hits twice they say) I know that soon others will follow :naughty: and will always be compared to yours; you set the mark pretty high and that's challenging.

My girlfriend came in town this weekend so I took the opportunity to use her 5 megapixel camera instead of my 3.2 to take some pictures. Here's the motor again since ya'll were asking for it:

OrangeR- The intake wasn't very difficult, and someone around here with more putty experience could probably make a better one. The tube was just some thick sprue from some old kit (I keep the sprue for some weird reason) that I heated over a candle and bent. The air box is made with Plastruct 3/4 round (left over from when I scratcbuilt a locomotive tender years ago) with styrene sheet (plasticard) glued to it and to itself to make the basic shape, then I used some putty to smooth it out. After a little sanding and priming it got decalled. The metal clip like you find on the Mugen intake was cut from aluminum tube and polished. Sorry I don't have any pics of the buildup, but it wasn't too complex, and it was a lot simpler than the stock S2000 airbox and intake would have been!

Thanks again for the kind words everyone.
