Is Autamatic Really that bad??? Seriously...it means u dont have keep shifting gears while on the road, so in everyday driving isn't Automatic actually better...sure u may sacrafice fractions of seconds on the track but no more pain in the @$$ shifting on the road....i just wanna hear your comments on the Automatic transmission idea.

if it wasnt good for everyday america, it wouldn't have been implemented on like 80% of all cars made. however dont expect DSM owners to be the same as everyday people, thats why we own fast cars with 5 speeds.

depends on application
a built auto is really good though, both has advantages and disadvantages.
I'll never get an auto though, manual seems to be the better street car (except in traffic :nono: )
and every eclipse owners i know that own a stock auto tranny hates it. I know someone who built there's, can now launch at 15psi, I've yet to ride in it though, sounds like fun :naughty:

get the transtar rebuild kit if you want it to be better. but at least get the transtar shift kit, its only 26 bucks. Limited slip is good too, i have phantom grip, but you should get Quaife, its much better. My a/t has 400 hp, ya dont need a manual

Think of it this way...if you're racing at the track, you time is more likely to be consistent in the automatic...We have a guy in our club with a 1g automatic and he's the 2nd or 3rd faster 1g automatic dsm there is...must be doing something right :iceslolan

automatics arnt that bad.. Actually once a car has soo much horsepower and crap.. an Auto is actually faster than a Stick. The top speeds for the Supra are autos.

The fastest supras (and skylines, etc) I have seen are all sequential gearboxes. They shift fast like autos though, and the clutch is only used to launch in some of them. There are some really fast auto tranny domestic cars. And Bushcurs 7 second DSM is a 2 speed auto...

A couple problems with ATs in a DSM are that they came from the factory with milder cams and a smaller turbo. Those can be overcome, however. Replacements are pretty simple. AT DSMs tend to be a bit slower on the track, but just add more mods and you'll keep up with us MTs. :D

Pick whichever you want is pretty much what it comes down to.
I used to drive auto's, all the time, didn't mind it. Then I learned how to drive a manual, and for an Eclipse, a manual just made it that much more fun to drive.
Sure on dead stop traffic, it may bite sometimes, but whenever the road is open and on twisty back roads in the summer...... It makes up for that few stop and go.
But I drive my car daily, and I have a ACT 2600 in my car. Doesn't feel bad at all. And at current rate, I still won't see myself in the future driving an auto. At least not for a sporty type car. But it will be different depending on where I live. Now if this was like New York City traffic or what not. Auto please.

Its important to note that this is only true for 1Gs.

Right. Guess I missed that part in my post. I have a 1G so I guess I'm too used to finding and posting answers related to it. I forget about you 2G guys.
