I just got the Aoshima wheel set I ordered...very disapointed :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:($12 to waste). :sly:
Here's how they were advertised on the website:
http://www.americansatco.com/Merchant/01880c.jpg
And this is how they actually look - very low quality and small as hell (it's supposed to be for 1/24 models)
!

Here, compared with a Tamiya 1/24 Enzo rear wheel:

I also ordered these Aoshimas, should I excpect them to suck too :bloated:(paid $17 for these including shipping)?

The AOS24768 is not bad, it is called Work Rezax II (18in.)
in 18" scale, much bigger than the one you bought at first.

Although the size is probably accurate, 16" in looks too small for a model car for those who're used to seeing 18" or 19". 1/24 scale 16" wheel can be used as a 17" wheel for 1/25 cars. Aoshima's 18" and 19" wheels are really good.

Ahem, I'd like to take this oppurtunity to point out that not everyone in the world is fascinated with usually impractical and oftentimes overweight 18, 19, and 20 inch wheels. 14-17 inch wheels are more common amongst showroom stock (by this I define any competition car in which the unibody/frame remains unchanged and the suspension retains its stock design and pick-up point) race cars and look quite a bit better on older cars then "modern" 18 inch wheels.
Those wheels you have there were probably intended to be thrown under an R30 Skyline or Nissan Gazelle, not an FD or S15.
I have a set of Aoshima BBS RG's that are about the same size and they look wonderful in the wheel wells of my Datsun 510. So I heartilly disagree with you on the subject of Aoshima wheels. Perhaps, then, you simply need to research what you're buying better. A company cannot be blamed for the ignorance of its consumers.

last time i checked these wheels are for Plastic Model Kits and often plastic model kits don't compete (often don't move), so size or weight difference between a 15inch and 19inch 1/24 scale wheel is negligible.

...yes, but when building an accuarate replica it helps if you have the same size wheel (in scale of course) as the real car.
besides, some cars just look stupid with over sized wheels. can you imagine a lotus 7 or mini cooper with 19's.....exactly :eek7:

that kinda sucks that you didnt get what the picture showed, cause that would have been a sweet ass rim, the ones you have still look pretty decent tho, i agree with... whoever said they would look stunning in the wheel wells of my datsun 510 also, I have been looking for some nice rims to hook it up...

The low number Aoshima wheels are small (14 or 15 scale inches) the same is true of the older Fujimi wheels.
They don't look bad with taller tires though.
:p

18" Work Rezax II as you can see they look fine
Those do look ok, but those aren't Work Rezax II, mine are - look at the spokes, they're different. I'll probably paint mine with some Metallic Grey (XF-56) to make em look better...the originals look too 'plasticy'

Artem1985il.... If you're looking for bigger wheels like the Rezax's never buy the older Aoshima wheels as they're all comparible size to the set you're displeased with.
I found this photo....as you can see the Rezax's are fairly big. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for the old white Toyaota Soarer.
http://www.geocities.com/vitaraman/hobbykits.html
Also, Hiroboy's Green Supra on 19's is another example of the more modern aftermarket Aoshima wheels.
It doesn't hurt to ask the board for assistance before shopping either....it would've most definitely stopped you from buying the first set knowing the size you want......just a suggestion.

Ya it sucks man......but you want be the first or last person to be stung by being fooled by there nice pics on boxes.
I've lost count how many times i've seen wheels, ordered them and found out they suck and look nothing like what is on the box.

I wouldn't trust any Aoshima wheel that lists for 500 yen. They are typically less than 18". Their 600 yen wheels are around 18". And their 800 yen wheels are the 19" VIP's.

Exactly. Welcome to the club Artem.
just make sure you look for the wheels to say 18" or bigger and you should be ok.

I am pretty sure if you check Colpar Hobbies and Hobby Town USA they both sell aftermarket wheel sets for a reasonable price, no shipping.
Colpar has 2 locations , one at Hampden and Wadsworth and one on Havana at about 1st
