ls vtec question

what is the proper way to vtec a ls integra motor? i hear people saying all you do is put vtec system on it and stuff, but im thinkin theres more to it, like maybe changing the cylinders, and beefing up the rods. how do exactly properly vtec an ls motor?? what process do you go through in order for this to work properly?
