Transmission Problem??

I had just bought a '93 Firebird Formula automatic a month ago. I was driving down the road and from a stop light I noticed that I wasn't really going anywhere. The car moves from 0 to 5mph alright...,but after that it doesn't move. The RPMs continue to rise and the engine gets warmer, but there just seems to be nothing I can do to make it move faster than that 5mph...I've tried it both in the overdrive and from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd...nothing seems to work...I then checked transmission fluid both hot and cold and it seemed to be low so we filled it...followed the directions form the manual with the gears and idle, but the car still doesn't move.
Is there another place that I can directly put transmission fluid (other than the dip stick spout) or does someone think it might be something else?
Thanks,
Dave

Hey, I am not sure if this will help, but you might want to check under the car if all of your hoses from the tranny are connected and/or loose. The hoses might be the ones that are causing the leak. If not than you are probably looking at a more serious problem.
I hope this helps.

Thanks,
DaveIf your low on fluid it's not gonna move. add fluid in dipstick hole til it's up to full level. don't overfill. too much is worst than not enough. If trans still doesn't shift right your filter might be clogged. Filter should be changed about every 30K miles. fluid should be cherry red and shouldn't have a burnt smell. if it smells burnt, time for a rebuild.
