My recently paid off 2000 X has began to have an intermittant starting problem. I can't seem to find a any consistancy with how it does it but, I'll try to start it (without touching the gas like I should be) and it crank for a while with no results, maybe a few seconds. I'll try again or again and nothing. Sometimes it starts right away. Other times it takes a few tries. Once started it runs great like it always does. Any ideas? I have had no problems with the vehicle up to this point.

it could be alot of things, i'm sorry to say.
battery isn't putting off enough juice to start.
starter is dead or close to it.
clogged fuel injectors (very unlikely)
i would go to shop and have it checked out, the first thing i would look at is the battery.

Thanks, I'll try it. I don't think it's the battery though since it seems to have plenty of juice for kicking it over. I have a full warranty but I didn't have time this week to leave it there.

For those interested, it turns out the problem stemmed from an aftermarket ignition kill device where you remove a small chip as a theft deterrant. The previous owner must have improperly diabled it and it started working intermittantly with the chip still in place. It cost me 110 dollars to find out.
