stock radio removal

i am having some trouble, i cant get my radio out, i have an idea of how but want to be careful not to screw it up. I can remove the dash, unscrew the radio, slide it out, but what is tripping me up is the power supply cord that goes directly into the unit. i am scared to take the unit apart cuz i want to salvage it. if you can help, plz reply. also i need a mounting kit, basicly just the part that fits the face into the dash, if you kno where i can get one CHEAP reply

I just took mine out today, and it is a couple of clips on the power cord. I have a 2001 Grand Am. Does this help?
