525 Trans trouble

my son was driving the car he said the eng. was reving a little high but not
going but 20-25 mph he stoped the car we had it towed home ...the trans was low on fluid put a Qt. in it the car will go in rev but want go in drive im
pretty good with car but this one has me(car want move when in drive but will
in rev) any help on this would be of help thanks kevin carr

is smell the fluid on the dip stick.

If it smells burnt, you have a big problem.

If not burnt you may be able to get it fixed.

You may want to lurk around E-Bay for a replacement transmission.
