I want to turn my 92 prism/carolla into a drag racing car. the first mod i want to do is put in a performance cam in but i cant find anyone that makes one, i checked every cam company that i know of including web and i just cant find one for my 4AFE engine. has anyone ever done this to this engine before? and will cams from the 4age or 4ae engine fit? i dunno im really stumped on ways to get my car into the high 13 low 14 second range (not including lightning). next mods i was thinkin about are a header(maybe custom) ported head, and a new diffrential gear and as a last resort nitrous.
if anyone has ever tried any of this or knows where I can find a cam
please let me know. Any help at all is extremely appreciated

It is better if you change your engine. Cam on an 4afe is not going to help you. what other mod you are going to do?

salbaje-i looked on trd and even e-mailed them and i couldnt find any cams for it. sorry but i dont have any pics.
Mellason- why wont the cam help if i also port the head and add a header? i dont know if i will end up blowin up the motor or not, i have heard that the bottom ends in these things atent very strong, is this true?

If you are serious about truning your car into a drag car you should have a plan before you do any modification. Anyway, I don't want to lecture anybody, long story cut short, if you want a cam for your engine and couldn't find one on the shelf then you should consider custom grind.
Crower offers custom grind cam, go to crower.com to learn more about it and drop them an email asking for more info.
In my opinion, you should at least know what specs of the cam are you looking for (durations and lifts), then you will find yourself delaying that mod.

Not to rain on your parade, but a 4AFE isn't the best platform for drag racing. The "F" in FE is for economy; that's all the head was designed for. Porting the head on that engine will most likely kill your bottom end (which you'll need for quick launches). Plus, the narrow valve angle doesn't facilitate high HP either. The bottom end is fairly stout, but only to a point.
The problem you have with the F head is the slave cam setup. The driven cam is the exhaust with the intake slaved to it via a scissor/anti-backlash gear. So, even if you get new cams, you can't degree 'em or accurately set the timing. And N2O...ugh...
I say, spend a night reading up on Toyota's incredible 4A series engines and then decide what you want to do (hint: F morphs into G with a Z put in the middle ;-) )
