Which remote start do I need for 2002 Taurus SES?

It's coming up on Christmas time, and I'm thinking about helping out my girlfriend with a remote start kit for her car. If I remember correctly, Ford offered a remote start option on the Taurus in 2002, but I don't recall what the part number was, or if it was available as a kit.
Does the Ford unit integrate with the existing remotes, or would I be just as well off if I bought a generic remote start kit from JC Whitney and got a PATS bypass kit with it?
The PATS system needs to be bypassed in the 2002 right?

The Ford kit is actually an aftermarket item from Code Alarm and it is horrid. I was installing them for the local FOrd guys and hated it. I finally showed them how much nicer mine were. You still have to install them the same way like any other one. As far as the JC WHitney route, I'd pass on that too. They are not much better. Unless you don't really care about the car and the performance of the remotes.
I have sold and installed about all there is out there. Anything from a Walmart Bulldog to a Compustar unit. I still believe that DEI (Viper, Valet, Python, ect.) are the best. You might be able to find one on EBay for a decent price but it will be more than $50 unless you buy a used one. I sell just about any brand if you want a quote. Give me an email and I can give you a quote with everything you'll need.

You serious??? I have been selling/installing for many years now and I have to disagree. Lately, I have been installing the Ford units for Ford dealers (they are Code Alarm units). I finally showed the difference between DEI and CA to the dealers. They now want to buy DEI. I've never had any problems with DEI. CA, I have had many bad out of the box. Plus, their remotes goto pot in a short time. My inlaws have 2 of the first models of the DEI #552t and they are still going strong. The new 562t's are awesome.
Personally, I love DEI technical help. They are always quick to help, even on non-DEI stuff.

Well I never need code's tech help, but the f-series that i use from them are far better then most dei, I agree DEI has nice stuff i just prefer the code system, been using them for the last eight years and i haven't noticed any more D.O.A's then with DEI as far as the remotes they always have good range and last for me, maybe you should try a different install with code then you use with DEI and you might just see my point

Can you put a Code Alarm on a Diesel yet? Last winter I had all kinds of trouble trying to get 2 of them to work right on a '03 F250 SD truck. I gave up and then ended up with a DEI unit.
BTW, Gm use to use Code Alarm for their OEM keyless entry units but then got tired of all the problems with them. Then, about 3 years ago, they signed with DEI for their needs.
It really doesn't matter. It's just what we are use to using. 12 years ago I started selling/installing DEI, CLifford, Code Alarm, and Excaliber. I liked DEI and CLifford. The only reason I didn't try to sell too many Cliffords though was that the installers didn't know much about them and they always came back for stupid reasons.
OH, one more thing. I have to install a Code Alarm into a '04 PT Cruiser later today!

OH, one more thing. I have to install a Code Alarm into a '04 PT Cruiser later today!they are now all set up for a diesel, they all have the best tachless start i have ever seen on a unit,it can either blind crank for average the last eight starts even works very well with diesel's let me know what you think about the new units code has i think you will be impressed they have came along way since the old days you are probably use to

Well, I just installed it today and I really wasn't impressed sad to say. It was the new PRO system (F10???). Basically seemed the same thing I tried to get to work on the '03 Super Duty. I tried the new tachless way and would not recomend it. I tested it by unplugging the starter wire. Well, it thought the car was started and would just sit there with everything on but the engine. That's not a good thing especially in the winter in Ohio. I didn't like all the little hoops you have to go to in order to get the thing programed. I didn't use their cheap little responder either. I used the DEI unit that you do not have to use a key to do it.
I guess we can't agree on this area. I do agree that the "brain" on Code's stuff seems a little better organized but it still comes with those weak little remotes. I am spoiled with DEI's tech help, warranties (still waiting for Code's web to work), and their little gadgets like the Tech Programmer, DVD's that hook up to the alarms, and others...

Yeah, I do use the Code and sometimes the Autopage units for leaders since I can buy 2 of them for the price of one DEI unit. Sometimes I have people wanting only the cheapest. But, I'll always try to get them to go to DEI first. :)
