Oil pressure problems

Does anyone else have trouble with oil pressure in a 2001 A4 avant?

At 35,000 miles I have the low oil pressure light going on regularly. After 4 attempts to fix at dealer (replace oil pump etc), they simply put in a new engine block. Now, at 55,000 miles (20,000 on a brand new engine) it has begun again. Very annoying as you aren't supposed to drive the car when this happens. And now the warranty has expired. Any thoughts or ideas?

It's a 1.8 turbo, and on it's way to the dealer for diagonistics. I tried to go 10 miles today, and the low oil pressure light continues to come on, go off when i slow way down or stop. Any input is helpful - I am not particularly knowlegable about engines, but don't want to get ripped off by dealer.

thanks

Alrigt here we go. I happen to be a technician at an Audi Dealer. It is very common for the oil pick up screen to clog, if your changing your oil every 8000 to 10,000 miles. it is possible that the cylinder head cam caps could also be worn out, causing a pressure drop. The problem is that regular oil cant handle the extended oil change intervals and the heat created by the engine and turbo. If you are gonna go 8 to 10 k between changes, USE MOBILE 1 or another GOOD Synthetic oil. If you dont want to spend the money and use regular oil, change it every 2500 to 3000 miles. I have done alot of these engines because of this, its not cheap to fix. Let me know what they say is wrong.
