I have just done the cam chain and head on old girl ('89 Calais, vin D 2.3), she has been sitting 2 years prior to this operation, I bolted her all back together using the GM Repair manual being extra cautious about torque specs. She would turn over nice but no go. I'm thinking Fuel filter. Is there a process(without buying the fuel purge kit) to bring fuel back to the rail? I am in the dark,
Thanks for any and all advice.

you can check if its a fuel problem by cranking over the engine a couple times then go under the hood. there will be what looks like a tire valve. push that. if fuel spurts out, you are getting fuel and it is probably a spark problem.
