wondering if anybody can help me out. when i drive i sometimes hear a squeeling noise coming from my front right wheel i think. my friend said that its the wheel bearing because it makes the noise without me using the brakes, and that it cost about $300 to fix, is he right? another thing is he said my brake booster is messed up because when im at a stop and if i apply hard pressure to the brake my rpm goes up to about 2k rpm and goes back down, is that normal for a car to do?

you don't have to be braking in order to hear a brake noise - the wear indicator can rub any time! Its hard to fix a noise without hearing it in person.

Why are you pressing the brakes hard when your stopped??? Thats a good way to blow-out seals, seems as though you've already done that to the booster.

i dont press the brake hard when im stopped, i always drive with regular mild braking. its just that when my friend changed my front brake pads, he stepped on the brake to test it i guess and he said that my brake booster was messed up. i never noticed before that my rpm jumped when i put my foot on the gas because i never step on it that hard, so maybe he messed it up? but i doubt it could have happened with him doing it just that one time. i didnt get my rotors resurfaced because he said that it was still ok, i was considering getting cross drilled and slotted but i read that the reduced surface area kinda equals out to blanks so i decided to save the money, would changing the rotors stop the squeel?

i'm almost positive its not your wheel bearing, when wheel bearings go bad, they don't squeek. Instead they make like a "hollow-hum" (sorry i can't explain it any better)

how do i know this? i have a bad wheel bearing myself.

but i could be wrong..

Possibly low quality pads?
Pads/retainers/shims not lubed or used?
