It all comes down to these three pony muscle cars. Ford's Mustang, Chevy's Camaro and Pontiac's Firebird. In order, what car do you all think looks best and second has the best performance?

What do you mean by "pony muscle cars"? Anyway, are you talking about modern models, or cars from the '60s, or altogether? I like any one of the three the best, depending on the year.

Yeah, that is kind of an open question. During the sixties I would have to pick the 67-68 Shelby GT's..especially the GT500's as I think they were the ultimate expression of the ponycar concept to date.
However, from 1974 to about 1981 the Firebird, especially in trans Am and Formula versions, was the only ponycar that even pretended to care about real, genuine performance and ponycar style. By 1982 the Mustang GT was on top again as it brought high performance back into the world of people on a budget.
I could go on and on from decade to decade as IMO it went back and forth. Overall though, from 1965 to 1970 (and 71 to 73 to a lesser extent) I think the Mustang defined what a ponycar is..with 67 and 68 being the pinnacle. So there is my vote.

Also, as the f-bodies are gone for now, with the Firebird looking as though it may never return, it would be courteous to give our Mopar and even AMC brethren a nod....as discontinued is discontinued wether it be two years or twenty.
The Cuda and Challenger were cool enough, as was the Javelin. Man, now THERE is a car you don't hear much about anymore.

I think the first gen COPO Camaros had the best performance. They probably looked the best too.

Gotta say I'd go with the old Boss Mustang on looks alone.

1. Trans am - Early models It was just the power and over all aura the car gives off(gen1-2). In the gen3 They gave them the popup headlights which were infinitely better than the Maros dual squares. I try to pretend everything after the GTA did not exist as the LT1's were hideous. Tehne came teh Ls1's and the final hurrah for the firechicken in the form of a four nostril ram air hood.
2. Camaro- Always more popular than the Fbird due to its price. I like them but nowhere near the extent I love the Trans ams. The one time the maro looked better than a chicken was in The LT1 dyas.
3.Mustang- I have no comments
