What are the engine specs on the 87' honda civic si? is it an 8 or 12 valve? Horsepower? I drove an 87' honda accord lxi and it had the 12 valve, 5 spd, and now i'm hooked. Is it a swapable motor into the si? thanks, A.J.

for the specs go to http://www.geocities.com/honda_club_egypt/engines.htm
as for what is swapable any honda/acura motor from before 87 is swapable without modification to the mounts but if you want to put an si motor into a non si car it ususally means conversion from carburated to fi so that means that you will need to also swap the fuel system (pump etc.)

I love false info.
Here it is
D15A3 1.5 8V SOHC PGM-FI 1488 91hp@5500rpm 93tq@4500rpm '87 Civic/CRX Si (USA)
It is 8-valve.

i love how someone sees it on a web page and IMMEDIATELY assumes its true.

i guess my 89 integra has a D16A3 in it because i saw that on that web page too, huh?

i can read, the engine code on my 1989 integra CLEARLY says D16A1. period, that page is filled with more than one piece of false information.

the g1 CRX Si engine makes 92ft-lbs@4500rpm, and 91HP@5500rpm, and it has TWELVE valves.

and if you don't believe me then i guess the honda engineers can't count either...

this is a G1 CRX Si engine, which is identical to the civic Si engine.

this was the integra a few years ago in action at an autocross in albany, NY.

right now i have either a bad timing belt tensioner bearing, or a bad water pump bearing. i parked the car a couple months ago so as not to damage the engine (if either bearing goes, it could break the timing belt, or at least jump teeth, and we all know what will happen there).

i just got an 89 integra D16A1 on ebay for $150 that is going into my 87 HF (yes, i am undergoing the labors of carb->efi conversion).

i already have pretty much all the suspension parts i need for the car.

the teg is donating its rear axle (sway bar) & brakes, the front steering knuckles (and brakes), and its transaxle.

I have a set of Mugen 25.2mm torsion bars, a set of koni yellow shock absorbers, ground control coilover sleeves for the rear, and some eibach racing springs in a 325lbs/in rate.

and that's gonna be my daily beater :D
the car in my sig pic is going to be the weekend driver (rear torsion bars are 23.5mm stock, front springs are 160lbs/in stock, and the sways are 23mm front, 14mm rear, stock)

the car in the sig pic also has 11.1" vented discs front, 11.4" vented discs rear in the braking dept. the engine produced 110HP stock (less than the integra's D16A1, but with more torque). the weight is similar to the integra.
