Pin Vise Question

I already checked the FAQ
i need to get a pin vise and i was looking at tamiya ones. my question is, do i need both of these:

to use these bits:

no you dont need both of them, just TAM74050 will do seeing as both can hold as small as 0.1mm. i think the differnce between the 2 is that the first has 2 interchangable collets while the second has a fixed single collet.

Yes I totally agree, I have the two and the only thing is that one (TAM74050) is heavier than the other and this can break some very thin bits if you're not carefull but it can hold all of the tamiya bits and the other (TAM74051) can't, just the (TAM74044) and one or two of the other set.

Thanks for ur responses. i just looked at the price...$11 w00t!!!!!!!! i'll just look on ebay for a whole set.

My advice is that don't be stingy on a pin-vice. Quality pinvice has a collect with perfectly shaped + slits, while cheap ($8 and below) ones don't. Quality of colleet makes a huge difference when holding a bit straight down. (cheap ones don't align with the axis of the rotation, which will easily break the bit)
