I have a 91 LS teg that all the sudden died today. I was able to start it up but it would shake like crazy, sputter, and eventually die. Even if I had the pedal to the floor it would onlly rev to about 1200 rmps before it would die. I recently had the belt changed. Sometimes at higher rpms I would notice the tach would jump aroud a bit because the bearings in the distributor are a bit worked. I checked the ecu and there are no trouble codes. The exhaust is flowing fine. There is a spark. Im still thinking it may be the fuel pump even though it is delivering fuel, the pressure might not be adequate. Does anyone have any ideas? It seems to be an air fuel problem.

Check your timming belt, if it is fine then iy could be your ICM inside your distributor or the TDC sensor, probably going to be the TDC sensor b/c you said that your distributor's bearing are going bad. If you know anybody with a 90-95 integra LS then see if they will let you borrow their distributor for a few mins to test it and see if the car runs with their distributor.

i had something that happen like that to me, i rev. the car to like 6,500rpm and then the engine just took a shit and it sputtered and wouldnt rev past 2k, i took it to my mechanic and he took off he valve cover and adjusted the cams, and some other stuff, it coast about 175 adn it was good as new, i would take it to a mechanic and ask him if he thinks that could be it. The mechanic that i went to was a honda specialst so i dotn know if all mechanics would say the same but it worked for me hope it helps. i have a 91 ls as well so it could be that.

The mechanic probably replaced youyr timming belt or tightened it, the reason for something like this to happen it becaus the timming belt has jumped a tooth or more and now the ignition timming etc are not right so the motor will not run or run poorly. I would check this or just tke it to a shop. If you take it to a shop and they say that you need a new timming blet thenm be sure to replace your water pump at the same time along with the front main seal, the mechanic will be in there and can do these two thing rather quickly and easily when replacing the timming belt. you may want to check out your alternator if it turns out to not be the timing belt. how many miles are on your integra. timing belt should be changed after 105,000 miles.
