Should I do appearance first or engine mods first?

i was wonderin if i should do appearance stuff to my 300zx first or engine upgrades to my 300zx. i kind of want to do engine stuff first but then most people just see the outside of the car. but in the end, i will do both.

Personally, I would do engine mods first. "All show and no go" is not a good thing.

Also, the 300zx already looks really good stock

is it a 300zx Turbo / Twin Turbo?

Damn right it looks good stock.

For a turbo 300 you could do the looks first since it's already quick.
If it's not beat up, I'd ONLY change the lights on body - NO EXTREEM BODY KITS! hehe.
Put on some rims you like.
Some cool exhaust tips.
Wax the car.

Then start working on the engine.
The more you spend making the car look fast, the less you have to actually back up it's appearance. I think a car that looks slightly modified is more attractive than one that looks heavily modified.

If a majority of people liked the 300zx with body kits or big ass wings (other than stock wings), Nissan would have sold them like that from the lot.

Just make the car look new again and maybe update the style a bit, then do the engine. People will appreciate and respect it more, as will you!

Yeah, I agree completely... When you modify a car by putting a big ass spoiler on it and a really flashy body kit, it makes the car look really dumb in a lot of cases... Not to compair the 300zx to a Civic or anything, but I really do feel bad for the Civics that are made to look like rocket ships by their 16 year old driver, even though I'm not by any means a Civic fan.

Yeah I was out last night and saw an 80s or early 90s vette that was riced. I almost thought it was a 3rd gen firebird with major conversions by the way the front looked.

Yeah the car was probably fast, It's a corvette!
But, very few people will want that car now that it's been "customized."

So it's like, if you do looks, don't go so far that you're the only one that would love your car. Just make the car a little better than it already is, don't change it to an entirely different car.

What year/trim is your 300zx btw?

i have a '92 N/A 2+2, i would love to convert it to make it have a turbo, but i heard it is easier jus to buy a TT. i agree, people do go overboard with putting body kits and stuff on their cars, i want people to know i have a 300zx.

I just started down this road myself, and I agree the 300ZX looks good as it is, it is a 14 year old car so I am going to live with the chips and couple of door dings the only thing I might do is replace the front bumper as it is a little beat up and I might go with stock, I just waxed it.

Before I go down the engine mods I am refreshing the car by replacing age related items to help it run better and ride better, such items like PCV/EGR/Cleaning TB and connections, replacing suspension bushings/shocks and the first mods are springs and swaybars, then will be stage 3 (Intake/ASH ECU/Exhaust/Boost Controller)

Go fast first.
Make it pretty second.
