Well it's pretty quiet around the house right now> Thought I had my problem fixed, gave the little woman the credit. Drove around all afternoon yesterday after replacing the ignition switch (9.99) done fine. The little woman was planning on driving it to work tomorrow so I tested it again. Drove 3 miles and it was like you had just reached up and turn the KEY switch right off. Got her off the road and would not start back. Go make a phone call (10 mins.) call my friend to come once again and It starts right back up. SO WHAT can it be? I know about brakes and tires, I've actually worked at that job. I am going right now to get the replacement for the CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, several people told me that. Some said clean it (the plug) andl some said just replace. That is what I'm doing right now. AND THE BEAT GOES ON! :dunno:

had a simular problem with mine.
it was getting no spark at the plug. so I checked the coil wire, no fire.

so I replace the coil and the controler it hooks into ($10 at u-pull it), still no spark.

so then I start checking all of the sensors, the all check out fine, so I try it again and it starts. turns out the conections where dirty in the CPS.

it had some ohter issues and I ended up changing the TPS and the CTS but it ran as soon as I'd unplugged and replugged the CPS.

if you are short on cash I'd disconect and clean all of the sensor conections, check them for broken wires, and check the vacuum hoses that go to different sensors.

if it still doesn't start get a diagnostic machine that will tell you the readings on all the sensors so you can see if any are sending extreamly odd signals (many parts houses rent or loan these).

I found that a lot of the trouble I had with mine (but not the problem keeping it from running) was the CTS was stuck and gave a 132 degree reading no matter what the engine temp was.

renting the reader is a lot cheaper and way less agrivating than slowly replacing your jeep, one part at a time, until it starts running.

Thanks for the info, I went ahead and changed the CPS. There wasn't a lot of corrosion on the plug. So I figured it was the sensor. She's running fine. I know I needed most of everything I changed anyway, just probably not as soon as I've replaced them. Just happy to be riding again.
