I found a late 90's Eclipse GS-T for pretty cheap, and am wanting to buy it.

However, I'm not sure I have the money to get it and then make it as fast as I would want. I want to run 300 hp, or run 13's, without using n2o. I'm willing to spend around 3-6 grand in mods, but the cheaper the better. I don't want a GSX, as I've had problems with AWD losing power to the wheels.(And GSX's weigh more, iirc)

Looks and brand names don't matter to me. I'm in it for purely speed. I just want mods that will make me quicker, make the parts I have last longer, or make me run better.. that kinda stuff. My current ride is a piece of .... and everyone has one, and so I want to get rid of it.

I can do most of the mods myself, as I have some nice tools, but if there is something that you would suggest I have put on professionally, I can pay for that as well...

Thanks for any help in advance, and if this is an inappropriate post, then tell me, and if there is a guide for something like this, tell me.. Meh, Just tell me if I messed up.

GST kick ass, without any Body Kits // Fenders // Custom Paint Jobs // Taillights u shoud be able to make a Mitsubishi Monster. That stuff is just a waste of time [but they look so cool]

SBR-20G Turbo [one Big MOFO] - $1,000
Greddy 2g big intercooler kit - $900
2g Exhaust Manifold - $200
Turbo Boost Controller - $150
u may even want to invest in a new piston setup [800-1,000 bucks!]
3" Turbo Back Exhaust - $800
AEM v2 Intake - $250-300
Carbon Fiber Hood - $300-400

most of those items can be found here:
http://www.slowboyracing.com

and if u want even a bigger turbo get a custom one here

Will I need to upgrade cam shafts/anything in the engine so I don't blow it?

Should I get a chip to boost hp? iirc, 200 bucks and it boosts 13-18 hp?

Brakes? Clutch? etc

Thanks for help though, sounds kick @$$.

And sorry to double post but I'm new eh...

Why do I need an intake w/ a turbo setup? Don't I just need an intercooler?

I'm.. er.. relatively new to cars. Sorry.

Oh, and can you drift an eclipse? road race? AutoX?

Stay away from brand name parts. For example, the Greddy FMIC is among the worst of the out there for our cars. Fine for the novice installer that wants the quick easy way out, but its too small a core, and the piping is like 12 feet long and small. Go with a kinetic FMIC from SBR, Inndy Race Cores, or Victory Performance. Also I assume he is looking for a 2g (late 90s) so he wont need a 2g manifold. The 2g motor will do up to 450 whp on all stock internals, but cams can be upgraded and make a nice power increase. Forget chips, they are for NT cars. We can get 8-13 hp just by looking at the car in the garage for a few minute :D

I would highly recomend an AWD if you plan to dragrace the car, for many obvious reasons. But if you want a FWD, I wont argue with you. Just remember that I told you so in a year or two :icon16: Now, after 300 whp, FWD does nothing but spin the tires all day. I have several friends with FWDs from 300 to 400+ whp, and they all say that while spinning the tires is fun, not going anywhere when you are trying to race isnt. That being said. I would follow Joe Gs mod list on our site, www.posracing.net. This did 350 whp, and ran a 12.0 with me driving. That should get even a FWD into the high 12s with proper suspension setup (stiff rear, using adjustable shocks) and good front tires. If you want more, you can go to a 20g as suggested above. The extra lag may help with traction, but when power hits good luck to you. ;) That will be good to ~450 whp on race has, 400 on pump. Tuning will be key, and I highly suggest DSMlink (.com) regardless of what modding route you take. If you want some sick power, check out my mod lists, or Chads, on the same site. Also it may not hurt to talk to Mike Huml at slowboyracing. He has a 530 whp FWD that ran 11.7. He's ditching the FWD and going AWD again though ;) I'm telling you, everyone does it eventually if they're going after track times. Hope this helps some.

I suggest www.dsmtuners.com. Look at the tuning guides, they should answer most of your questions.

Well, crap.

I went last week, before thanksgiving, to get the car and everything, but I didnt have all the cash as I had just sent in my next semesters tuition check. I told him i'd have it by this week. So I go back to get the car and the fucker sold it. Gave me my deposit back.

I live in north carolina, anyone know where I can get a cheap Eclipse? after thinking about it, and the fact that I'm moving back to NY, GSX would be better. 1G or 2G doesnt matter. Turbo, exhaust, etc can be screwed as I plan on putting a lot of stuff new one it.

Any ideas?

Look in your local auto trader, ebay, dealerships, dsmtrader.com, etc. Don't settle for a GST or less. If you're serious about modifying you'll want AWD.
