friend of mines 92 Talon 2.0L doesnt wanna start when its cold. when you try to start it, you have to crank it a few times, then it'll fire for a split second, then you have to crank it bit more, it'll fire barely again, keep on and it'll finally start.
after it starts, if you touch the gas pedal, it stalls out, much like that of a carburated engine if you open the choke all the way before it warms up.
if you let it idle after it starts, after it warms up it runs great.
the check engine is also on, but my scanner doesnt work on this vehicle.
any ideas?

check the spark plugs. They could be old and worn out causing it not to fire.

Check your fuel system pressure and filter. check to see if your fuel injectors are leaking.
