HELP! 2002 Ford Ranger oil change

My dad owns a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT, and of course being the man he is, he insists on changing the oil himself, even though the space around the oil filter is cramped and always takes forever to change the filter. I was wondering if any could tell me an easier way to change the oil filter? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
