hey guys. this site looks impressive and it seems that maybe someone here can help me out. i have a 97 cavalier z24 and im trying to splice a cd player into it. it's a pioneer. dumbass me cut the harness off of the car cause ive wired a lot of sterios, but i never ran into this problem before. on the harness that plugs into my cd player, i have a fat yellow wire, a red wire, a black wire, a remote wire, and then 4 sets of speaker wires. but the part that is getting me is the wires on the car itself. there are two gray wires, two yellow wires, a tan wire, a black wire, two brown wire (one is larger than the other), a light blue wire and a dark blue wire, a dark green wire and a light green wire, a orange wire with a white stripe on it, a green wire with a white strip on it. what goes to what? i cannot get it to work and i wasn't sure if someone had reference to the which wires are which. ANY help would be greatly appreciated....

dude. sweet. if this works i owe you one big time. ill post a reply to let you know.... but do you know what the green wire with a white strip is for? does it have anything to do with the theft lock or something? oh, and now my little remote door opener and shit doesn't work, nor does my dome light? does that have anything to do with my sterio being dissconnected? i just bought this car and im kinda just going into it blind, so i do appreciate you guys helpin me out here...

the other wire should be for stock amp, atleast thats what i think it should be because mine has a stock amp. and as far as your other stuff not working.....consider yourself very lucky. because cutting the connections to the radio could have disabled your entire car....the entire wiring harness and ECU runs through the radio and you can lose many things when removing the radio. bes buy, tweeter, and any other aftermarket audio shop wont touch cavalier for this reason. too high risk of disaster. entire wiring harnesses have melted down and been needed to be replaced before. most people need to leave the stock readio hooked up without the speaker wire attached, just power and stuff. and hidden down inside of the dash, and wires spliced off to the aftermarket head unit in order for their vehicle to work! so like i said you only lost dome lights and Keyless Entry your quite lucky!

ECM does NOT run thru the radio harness...tch...tch..misinformation...
The only thing that goes to the car from the ECM is the MIL light and the ALDL.
