Where is the Stratus VIN # Located under the hood?

Hello everyone,
I need to know where the VIN number is located under the hood of a Dodge Stratus, model years 1997 thru 1999. Also, if anyone knows what evidence to look for to determine if a vehicle has been swapped I would appreciated it. My friend is convinced that a dealer has gone as far as re-hanging the hood, trunk, all four doors and the dashboard to make a piece of crap look like it is legally her car. The items I mentioned above all have VIN stickers one of which is mutilated but readable. We have been told ther is a VIN number on the firewall but we can't find it. Pleas help and thank you in advance.

You can look inside the trunk behind the trim covers on either side. Located above the wheel wells are vin stickers that should be in mint shape. Compare these to the dash vin.
The vin plate under the hood is steel and is on the passenger side strut tower and the vin is the bottom number.
