I just got some resin sport seats for a project car. I need some ideas on mounting points for the the shoulder belts. The car's a 2+2 and there isn't a mounting surface nearby for the center belts. So, do I mount them to the seats or run them all the way to the floor?

You need Acrobat Reader to view this link but it will tell you all you need to know about mounting a harnass. (http://www.gforce.com/pdf/harnessinstall.pdf) The long and the short of it is you need to mount the shoulder belts to a surface about shoulder height behind the seat. The floor and the seat back are not appropriate. In real cars, I've seen the shoulder belts mounted on places like roll cages, the mounting point for the back seat's shoulder belt (long ways but it works) the mounting point for the back seat's lap belt (also a long way and I wouldn't do that in my real car especially if I planned to race it). The lap belts on a harnass are all attached to floor, and usually extend straight down from wherever they pass over the seat's edge. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that.
The car is a New Beetle that I'm building as a tuner street car.
I don't really want to put a roll bar in the car but I may add a bar to mount the belts on.

I use a Sparco driver side 3-point harness with my Recaros. My car is my daily driver. My shoulder mounting point is the rear passenger lap belt. I have no problem fitting 3 people in the rear seat. The rear lap belt mounting is very secure as it is one of two recommended mounting points per instructions. The two laps mount to the body, most of the time the stock location is appectable (of course using the stock grade 8 bolt). I'll post a pic soon..

Thanks!
I found some belt mounting info from one of AF's featured links.
Looked at a buddys New Beetle for the exact mounting points.
