New product (designed by me)

Currently I'm develloping a new kind of car cleaner (assignment for school). This product will clean the car without any need of buckets, soap or other tools. You just take out the product (which would be portable) and clean the car. The new product will clean the car in 1 move. So no need to dry of the car after cleaning...

The best way to describe it, is like a portable carwash.

I know it's still very abstract, but I really could use some help

first: how much would you pay for this product (considering the prices of a professional carwash)
second: do you have any opinions, needs, or features that this product must have (I'm giving you guys some input here :biggrin:)
third: how clean/what parts of the car need to be clean in order to look clean. I know this is a hard question, but an exemple: if the insides of a door are not clean, the car still looks clean. What else falls in this categorie.

Theres a product kind of like this its called car wash in a can or some crap like that, you just spray it on and hose it off it supposedly washes and waxes the car at the same time.

If the product really worked i'd pay up to 200.00 for it if it was some type of machine that actually cleaned more than once and not just some stuff in a bottle.

For a car to look clean I'd say the entire exterior including the wheels have to be clean, and what you can see just glancing into the interior, also the windows need to be clean, and the car should be shiny appearing as if it was just waxed.

The product that I'm designing isn't a trow away product, but can actuelly be used multiple times (still don't know precisly how much this is, but certainly over 30 times...).

Over 30 times? Sounds a bit optomistic to me. Have you thought about making your product like those little wet-napkin type things you get at restaraunts? If I were buying the product, I would be more likely to buy something like that then pay much more for a product (I can't imagine it would be very compact either if you want to use it more then 30 times because you would need a resevior to hold all the solution) that sounds almost too good to be true. I would believe it if the price was close to $50, but I wouldn't spend that kind of money on it.

All I gotta say is that whatever it is better not damage the paint on my car... Like the "wet-nap" idea is cool, but if you've got dirt granules on the car, they'll scratch the shit out of the paint...

And, personally, I enjoy washing my car. The only part I really dislike is having to scrub my rims. It's uncomfortable and awkward...

As far as drying the car, I use one of those California Water Blades, and then I use an Absorber on any remaining water. Goes pretty quick and gives good results.

It needs to clean all body panels of the car, the glass and the rims to LOOK clean :)

Do it without scratching, smearing etc and maybe leave a bit of a wax I'd pay about $us15 a pop.

When I purchased my car I had the paint treated with a teflon solution - which means no detergent/surfactant required, just hose with cold water, rub gently with a soft sponge and hose residue off. And no polishing... works especially with with a low pressure water blaster.

The alloys are a bit more work but Mothers makes this product containing Oxalic Acid that you spray, rinse with strong stream of water and wipe to dry.

The teflon stuff cost around US300 for the entire paintwork and has a three year warranty. Sounds exxy but compared to the cost of materials and work required on previous vehicles with P1 thru P3 step polish systems (cleaner, sealer and several layers of carnauba wax) it was worth it...
