2003 BMW Z4 3.0 EML Message

This morning I went to start my 2003 BMW Z4 3.0 with 11,000 miles.. The car did not turnover, it kept clicking. Does anyone know what would cause this??
There was a message on the dash like ----/-----

some one must have left the glove box open or the headlights on.
The clicking is the relays with less than 12 volts.
