OK..got a question if anyone out there has any info to help..I have a 1988 chevy s-10 4 cyl 2.5L that i want to change out the distributor to a vacuum type with points...I've heard that the distributors in chevy monza, sunbird, astre etc. of the early- mid 1970's (refered to as the 4-140 engine) will work...I'm lookin to loose all the electronic ignition, carb & dist. & run it like "back in the day"...any help would be appricated...

Is there a purpose for this? I'm not trying to sway your mind the other way, but I was just wondering if there was a reason for doing this just besides the fact that you want to. I have a 1990 Plymouth Sundance with the Chrysler 2.5L TBI motor. I don't like Chrysler distributors from that era either  I was mainly just interested in knowing if you were doing this for performance reasons or whatever..

There is no reason to want a distributor with points. They are inaccurate and a pian in the ass to maintain. I think you need to understand what you are trying to do.
