I've changed rear speakers in cars before...but I just dont want to tear up my new car. But I HAVE to replace the rear speakers. Is there a step by step guide to replace the rear speakers in a Malibu? Or once I start, is it pretty self-explanatory?
Is it pretty much all snap together pieces?
-Any help is appreciate!!

don't panic. it's easy to replace the rear speakers. the covers pry up from the pot, and the speakers thenselves are bolted down with crosstip screws.
if ur planing on putting in slightly larger speakers, you may have to modify the hole by bending the fins around the inside of the hole. i had to do this with 240W Pioneers. i thought it was gonna be a tight fit. but after bending the fins a little, they fit right in with no damage to the car or speakers. then i simply used the original covers.
the only thing you have to make a choice on is the wiring. since the original speakers use a special connector, u may have to splice the wires. but other than that, it's easy.

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the speaker screws to the rear speaker. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

Install the rear window trim shelf. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Window Shelf in Interior trim.
