model putty question

hello,

i was wondering if you could put tamiya basic model putty in water or will it come off the model. i was wondering this b/c i need to get all the dust and stuff off the model body.

If it's dry, it shouldn't.

thanks i was just wondering becuase i didnt want to wash it and see my hard work go down the drain.
