Questions on 5 series

I am considering getting a 5 series. I am undecided on whether to get the new or old model. But more importantly, I don't want to pay outrageous prices for maintenance. I was wondering if people would please share with me how much they pay for oil changes, check ups, and so forth? Also, where do you take your car to get these done?

Thanks in advance

Are you in the U.S.? If you are, then when you purchase a new BMW, all scheduled maintenance are free for the first 4 years / 50,000miles.
So basically, the only things you have to pay for are gas and tires.

Thanks, that seems pretty amazing. Nice selilng feature though. I think I am going to test the new 530 6spd tonight to see if I like it.

Just to add;
DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR BMW TO ANYONE else but a BMW authorized service center even after the 4yrs/50000 warranty runs out. They do NOT have the proper equiptment to service the car.

If I had bougth a new car for two years ago, I might have gone for the 5-series. A month ago, I didn't. I simply just don't like the looks of the new BMW 5-series. Yes, I know, many tests claim it as the best in its class, but its not much better than the old one. But if you like the looks, go with the new one... I prefer the old, although it is aging..

Just remember, new models often have "child deseases".. I heard some problems with the steering on the new 5-series?
