my car idle's at 1250 rpm, is that too much, what could be causing that.

Idle should bea round 750 (for 5 spd, not sure about auto). Several things can cause high idle. Again see the vfaqs. But most common cuases are throttle cable tension, ISC motor, vacuum leaks, etc.
