Anybody use ADDCO sway bars?

I was just searching around and found that ADDCO sells the rear sway bars for the civic for $150. Since I want only the rear this seems much better than buying the ST front and rear for over $200. Does anybody have any experience with these bars or heard of them? Also, will it just bolt fight up to my STD without any mods like Si LCAs?

7. This bar must be used if you have an existing bar on your vehicle. This bar is a larger diameter that the factory bar, but uses the same mounting points as the original factory bar. It requires the use of special hardware that was factory installed. This kit may not contain all the hardware that is required for installation. This cannot be used without the original hardware.

I found this footnote on their website, so i guess that answers my question.

For your 1st question, ADDCO bars are decent.

I was looking through a new Jegs catalog today and saw they sell ST "rear-only" sway's for $125.99. It does say in the foot notes : Requires adapter kit for '88 civic & Only fits vehicles with OE front sways. If this is the same exact bar that comes in the ST front/rear kit, it mounts to the lower shock mounts & brackets are placed @ the rear tow hooks. I don't see why it wouldn't mount on ANY 88-91 civic/crx ('88 with whatever kit is needed)

Here's a link : http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=121985&prmenbr=361 It says 3/4" on the jegs site & 7/8" in the catalog . . .

I can take some pictures tomorrow if you want to see how it mounts.

maybe since the 88's rear shocks mount differently the rear sways cant mount the same way.

jackassi, thanks for that find, thats just what im looking for. I searched yahoo, but no sites came up that had just a rear bar.

I think I had seen a picture of yours, or maybe it was somebody else that showed the mounting for the ST bar, but if you want to post another pic i wouldnt mind.

Even though it says Only fits vehicles with OE front sways, do you think it is just that same as the one that comes in th kit and will fit on my car? I really hope so.

I think it will work, maybe they say that because a rear sway only will cause the car be very unstable during high speed turns. Thats when you get snap oversteer & your just along for the ride with no control, on the street this would be a very bad thing. On the track its a fun thing :bigthumb:, if no one is coming!

The red you see under brackets is where the factory rear sway brackets were, seperate from the tow hooks.

You could contact Belltech/suspension tech & ask them if its the same bar as in the front/rear kit.
