How do you apply cheats?

Hey new member here.
I just installed nfs underground, found some cheats, but cant seem to run them.

it says to go into statistics then press delete to come back and then enter your codes.

but when i press delete it doesnt take me back to main menu.
and where do u even enter the codes?

can some one please tell me how to use those cheats, i dont play online or anythin just single player.

enter the cheats on the main menu.
