Custom Car Interior

Ive been looking at cars and I just started biding on a white gst 97 on ebay and I am in love except for one problem. Although in good condition, the tan interior and scooby doo steering wheel cover are hideous. I can fix the cover but I would like to have the interior redone to maybe a theme. Maybe a black and blue theme. I have seen blue dashboard covers and blue shifter things, but I want to do the seats, doors, everything. Anyone got info on how to go about this, pricing, who does it, etc?

my dash was just recently re-done by a bedliner spray. It looks badass and will never scratch or fade or any of that. Then i purchased a dash kit off ebay for like 15 bucks.....

Sounds good, what do you look for on Ebay, just dash kit? Im talking everything though, upholstery and all. I asked my friend today and he said theres some girl that does it all for around 700$ and its good quality but im still wondering what the going rate is.

ooo, thats nice, are those pieces hard to put in? Ive never tried but I dont think it would be too difficult. Except maybe the door panel ones.

dsm owner, are these pieces made of good quailty, will they last a while, and do they stayed sticked on or do they fall off sometimes.

You could change the look of your dash for under $10. You just need spray paint of your colors, clearcoat, sandpaper, and lots of time. I will give you more info if you want. Or if you have money you can design you own fiberglass dashboard which would look HOT!
Seats could cost you at least $500.
Shift knobs about $40 and shift boots around $20
Carpets-$20 or if you get diamond plated metal-$120

I would love to design my own fiberglass dash, how do you do that? Also I will probably go with diamon plated metal and just get a shift boot to match the theme I go with.

read up on fiberglassing its alot easier than people make it out to be, and not very expensive. the only reason people charge so much to make custom parts becuase it takes some time, and lots of sanding.
go to termpro.com and go to the fabrication forum in the forums section.
theres a post made by Mpipes called "fiberglass anyone"
read that! its alot of pages but you'll know everything you need to know.
then you could practice on some things, and fiberglass your dash, door panels or whatever!
ive done a couple dashes and door panels for crx's and they turned out very nice.

Pink would look super awesome, apparently people do it for a living and im probably going to get the dash and the the seats done with a blue theme, then do blue neons under dash and under the car, its a black car that im getting so its gonna look super cool. Too bad blue neons are illegal in FL but I dont care, ill just try and flip em off if I see a cop.

LOTS more!

yes fiberglassing is easy but the hard part is making the outline...i have worked with fiberglass for a couple years now on custom installations and other stuff for a audio dealership here in my town...its fun and cool but there is a lot of work involved... here is a website that i found that kinda resembles what i am doing to my car right now, sorta that same type of thing but different stuff in different places, i have been working on this for probably 2 months and all i have done is the 2 rear side panels and where the back seat use to be, but it still needs to be painted, so you can see it takes a while, but it looks tight as hell when you get done!!! http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/182868/1
there are several things that you can do such as use the old dash panel and build it up from that but i think the way i am goin to do it is just take the dash off and build a template out of wood to make mine, so then its the way i want it and its one of a kind... which is better for show cause judges like it when your different! good luck!

Hey buddy,
I have a custom interior that started out as the ugly tan and black youre talking about. Now its pink and carbon fiber. I got the carbon fiber dash kit from Nopi. They also have it in blue carbon fiber, or just plain blue. Exotic wood dash has them too. Ebay is the best way to go though, b/c Nopi has the bezel that you have to buy separate, and not as many pieces. As far as door panels go, go to either a store, or to a body shop and get some dye and dye those panels!! I got my seat covers from wetokole.com and they were 577 bucks. But they're nice as shit. You can get blue in the middle with black on the outside, or get your upholstery shop to redo your seats in blue. My headliner replacement was 200 bucks, and my carpet was 300, but its well worth it in the end. No one has an interior like mine....

Hey everyone, If you check out other forums on interior decorating :) theres this paint called Krylon fusion. Its a paint specifically designed for painting plastics. So all u need to do is Laquer ur pieces and paint light coats and it looks fine. Im doing this now and it looks awesome, im going for a blue and silver theme. My car is silver so i think its gunna look sick once i put in my neons on the interior. I was wondering if anyone would know how to take out the whole dashboard on a 97-99 eclipse
thanks everyone

If you truly want your car to look good, don't go buying shitty looking spray paints. You can have your car completly fiberglassed for a diecent price, depends on how extravagant you want to get. It's gonna look cheap and nasty if you go spraypainting your entire interior. The kits you buy on ebay only cover up the top of your interior, you're still stuck with the color. If you happen to be from pennsylvania or willing to travel a bit, I can give you the name of a shop that will hook you up with the best work you've ever seen. Let me know if you're interested. Good luck

It depends on how many parts you are getting done, to do everything, doors, dash, and all pillars. It would cost you about 1500. That includes paint. Let me know if you're interested and I"ll get you hooked up with the guy who owns the shop.

What do you guys think about putting very thin carpet on the bottom half of the front console and over the doors, etc.? Kinda like what a Nissan 300ZX interior is done. I'm thinking of going this route, I personally think painting the interior is a waste of money + looks ugly, but thats my opinion. :)

I bought one of these dash kits off ebay. It's ok for the amount you pay, but i wouldnt recommend it. It doesnt cover all the places leaving it looking like its not done. If you really want to make the interior look nice go for somethin thats worth it.
