Mine works.

Mine works. It's most noticeable in the heat of the summertime. You can actually feel a drop in air flow out of the passenger side vents.

Mine seems to work on my '95, but it's not a huge difference.

on my 97 it seems to make a noticeable difference.... wife always keeps
it turned to the warm side during the summer, beacuse she doesnt like it as cool as me... i usually have it set on 75 most all the time.

The middle(neutral)setting of the knob would be considered off.

I found out mine works real good ! It's 15 degrees here and the Wife and I were driving to my Sons basketball game. First she says she is hot and cracks her window! Then she starts knocking the temp down on the dash 70,69,68........60 while my feet are about freezing and I'm wondering WTF???? Then a light bulb went off in my head and I glanced at the temp control knob on the door and it was full blast hot ! My Son put it there while taking him to practice at 6:00 every morning during the Christmas break. After I told her turn the knob down she said feel my feet I grabbed her ankle and it was cooking and my feet are on the other side freezing !

Mine is acting up all of a sudden. Yesterday, it was blowing hot on the passenger side no matter where i set the pas temp control.climate control was set at 75.. just seemed to go from hot to hotter...
the other vents were blowing cool since it was pretty warm here..
today it seemed just the opposite, pas side was blowing much cooler that the rest..... I wonder if it is the switch, or the HVAC programmer that I hear is so bad to go out?

The programmer operates the driver and passenger air mix valves independently. If the passenger operates the passenger temperature control knob to request a warmer or cooler temperature on that side of the vehicle, the programmer operates the passenger air mix valve actuator to increase or decrease passenger side discharge temperature.

so which is more likely to be the problem?

Could be anything Jim, switch, door wire, passenger side actuator, solar sensor ,or the programmer maybe you can drop the glove compartment and see if the actuator is moving.

I probably didnt describe what it is doing very well.. bear with me, I am fighting the flu..Ive never been this sick that I can remember.
I think the actuator is working to some degree, since moving the pas temp control does vary the temp of the air on the pas side. Its just not right.
The first time it was sunny and about 70 out. Climate control set at 75
The air from the other vents was cool, about what i would expect, but the air on the pas side was hot, adjusting the pas temp control was changing the temp, but was still much hotter even in the full cool position. In the second case, it was just the opposite. It was cold out,
and the system, set at at 75 again, was heating the drivers side just right, but was blowing cold on the pas side. Adjusting the pas temp control would warm it up a bit but was still a lot colder that the other side.

That is weird I try to find some info to see if the HVAC can be reset.

Jim I looked at a flowchart and it said first to check for a broken or loose arm that operates the passenger side temp. Also I saw that if the programmer was to be changed that it could be reset by leaving the key in the on position for 3 minutes.(Without engine running.)

Ok... I'll check and try that this weekend... If that doesnt fix it, I'll
get you an exact temp differential between the two sides.. just FYI

Does it matter where the temp controls are at while you are re-setting it?

For the reset, no it doesn't matter. This is for a new programmer It's worth a shot.
