the rev limiter at 7300rpm will be hit in 5th gear around 200mph. As far as I know there is no govener. Stock you wont be going any higher than 160mph tho. Your speedo will read around 170 beacuse its slightly off.

The govenor on it will make it shut off at 155. Because the 3000GT has such a low drag it is capable of reaching speeds of 300+ mph it just depends on how much money you spend on it and what kind of mods you do to it.

300+ hahahahahaha, to go 300mph you would have to be in 5th gear at 11000rpm. I dare you to find my a 3000gt that can rev that high. The fastest 3000gt in the world has been up to 240, with a 6 speed. The 6 speed goes to 247 in 6th gear @ 7000 rpm, just to give you an idea.

Where have you heard of a 3000GT VR4 with a govener, cause its not in the US, and the VR4 only existsed in the US. The car doesnt stop accelerating because of a govener, it stops because the engine isnt strong enough to push it any faster.

talskinyguy where are you getting your info? The VR4 is governed at 159mph. It has been since it was introduced in 91 And you can hit that in 4th gear (I've done it). The 1st gen (5 speed) can hit just over 200 with no limiter and the second gen (6 speed) can hit damn near 250.

I get my info from taking my car up to 160 and having it still pull. Lots of magazines assume top speed is computer limited, I very well could be wrong, but my car is not. Mine is drag limited. I have no way of proving this though because I no longer have a stock ECU. Many people on 3si have taken their car over 160 by simply chaning the turbos and putting on supporting mods, no ecu modification at all.

do a search on www.3si.org for top speed, if you find anyone saying that their car is speed limited(not RPM) and not being corrected, show me the post. Everyone I find points out that fuel cut is at 7300rpm and no speed limiter.

If thats the case, I'll just have to go FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All i know is my car pulls HARD all the way up to 160, then shuts down abruptly and cuts back in once the RPMs go back down. Definatly not drag limited. The 3000gt is areodynamicaly engineered to reduce drag. Especialy with the active aerodynamics.

What gear where you in when it shut down at 160? You said 4th, so Im just wonder what rpm that would be at.

a friend of mine down in arkansas had a 93 vr4 and upgraded his turbo's like talskinyguy said and he said he got to 175mph but he did something with his computer.

well geez its a big debate isnt it...im just glad nobody's getting mad. at least most people agree that its at about 160 when the car stops going faster, weather or not there is a governer is to be guessed but im gonna guess that there prolly is one....i just wouldnt think it would be legal to NOT have one ya know guys? oh well my guess is just one of many. thanks again for the info.

big newboe here in 3si. what if u disable the "computers" in ur VR4 to make the VR4's topspeed go faster? :cwm27: well, this question does sound stupid.,.. :uhoh:

The USA has no top speed laws. Thats why different cars have different governed speeds.

you know you might be right talskinyguy, maybe there isn't a limiter or governer
