Im 15 now, but am verrry enthusiastic about cars. I had planned to get a Dodge Stealth TT in the near future, but my parents think that it isn't a good first car. (my bro has one).... So i think ive decided on a prelude. My bro also ownd a Integra RS (94) with mods and i loved the way it drove...
Im more focused i think on a 4th gen, but a 5th gen would be really nice...
should i look for V-tec or not????
also what years have brougt in faster 1/4 times, because i plan to do some mods on it, such as:
Exhaust
Intake
Headers
INtake manifold
Short shifter
Straight piping (no cat)
Pully's
thats bout it to the engine i can think of thats fiarly cheap...
OR im lokoing for a car that already has some of that stuff listed above, and then i could add more intense parts onto it...
any reccomendatoins...
or is a prelude not a good way to roll first?

if you get a 4th gen, definitely look for a vtec. all 5th gens are vtec btw.
the 95 Prelude VTEC (4th gen) was the fastest prelude on the us market.
Preludes do make good first cars. It was my first :smokin: so i'm speaking from experience.

don't look for the 95 in specific, any 93-96 vtec prelude will do you good.
as for aftermarket parts...they cost just about the same as civic and integra parts. they're just a bit harder to come across.

aftermarket parts for a prelude. yeah right you can find them any were. its easier to find things for a Vtec then a SI and that i was you are looking at so don't worry. Ebay has the parts like none other. Just make sure you are not going to get screwed and end up not getting the part

word... yea im lookin for a vtec i think...
what would be a reasonable price with these specs
92-95 Vtec: 100k< miles
96- 98 with 100k< miles?
and both in decent shape.. both manual (of course)...
or what did u pay for urs?

2800lbs
according to the people at car videos a 96 Civic EX Coupe (5spd) runs a 16.7 quarter. I would assume an auto would run it a little bit slower. 17 flat maybe.

Hey my little bro is getting a 95-96 si he wants to do a fully rebuilt h22 vtec head on a h23 block. two of my brother had 4th gen preludes one had two 92 prelude and my other had a 95 special edition full leather intirior and full bodykit. my first car is 97 prelude damn that thing is sweet it hella strong for stock and acura ls with dc headers and aem intake barely keeps up with me i only got a intake.

i Just baught for my first car a 95 vtec Lude, it is fast, and it runs very nice...it has a good amount of mods. But dont just look at 95's 92-96 will be fast. Once you get into 97-01 they become heavier, and are not as quick as the 4th gens. I have headers, exaughst, act racing clutch, and ram air intake, my best ever time in my lude was a 14.4...it was quick....just to give you an idea on what your looking at.
ask any questions if you like.

One last thing i forgot to add. I am 16 and having this vtec prelude is a nightmare for insurence, i am having my father insure it under him and letting me just drive and i keep it, else it would be ridiculous. I checked out the price to insure me under my name, that cost was 3000 dollars a year!!!! that is f***ing HIGH!!!! that is $250 a month with full coverage. theres no way unless your parents are willing to shell out that money that you are going to pay that...anyways not trying to scare you...

well really depends on how much money you have to spend.... good 4th gen vtecs that are used are at the least around 8k... then you also have to find them, and they are hard to find. then you got to test drive them to make sure the not jacked up.
