Headlight Electrical Problem

I have a 1989 525i, while driving at night my headlights go out. To get them back on, I can turn on a blinker, turn on and off the fog lights, flash the brights. The fuses in the black box in the engine compartment are fine. Any idea's on where there might be a short? The fuse off of the battery was changed out in April. The problem started about a month ago. Thanks for any responses.

ether K3 highbeam relay or the K4 lowbeam relay
I am sure that is the issue.
Here is an e24 diagram for a visual reference.

Had a similar problem with my '91. My P/side headlight wouldn't come on and the D/side fog light wouldn't either. Looked really funny at night. Ended up being the light control module (LKM). Replaced it and the troubles went away. Don't know if this is your fix, but if all else fails you might want to try it.
