Hi all, I am new to working on engines (I don't know a lot about how they work but I am trying to learn, take it easy on me)and new to this site. I have a 91 camaro RS with the 305. I know I am in the Pontiac forum but I have a question. Will a 1972 400 Pontiac fit in my camaro? And why does everyone with chevys say not to use pontiac engines. Someone told me it would fit but need to do mess with it to get it fits. What he meant I dunno. Anyway can some one give me some advice? I am just wondering this because I have a Pontiac 400 and if it will work it will save me the trouble of finding a Chevy 400. Thanks :uhoh:

most likly it will not fit because your going from chevy mounts to a pontiac motor...

a chevy will fit in it but a chevy 400 is not a good choice a chev 350 is a good choice but if you want a big block go with a 454

guess what
search for indian adventures in google
they have 3rd gen conversion kits to get poncho engines in there. keep in mind that you cannot use the same transmission/bellhousing. pontiac 400 is a torque machine. the 455 is the same block so you could put one of those in there too.. theres a magazine i get called HIGH PERFORMANCE PONTIAC
the have a website, just google it up.

just some extra knowledge.. GMC used to use pontiac engines for their tow-trucks because of the enormous torque.
